1. Black House by Stephen King
2. Deeper by Roderick Gordon and Peter Williams
3. Roadwork by Richard Bachman AKA Stephen King

I know two of these are from one of my favourite authors but..

message 2: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Oh, that's right, I'd forgotten that you're not crazy about Black House..

Why didn't you like Roadwork, BTW?

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

It is probably just because I have very high expectations for anything Stephen King, especially Richard Bachman and this one just didn't go too well for me. I was interrupted a lot while reading it, so I might reread it

message 4: by Dustin (new)

Dustin I would definitely give it another go.
I've found that if there are a lot of interruptions and/or distractions, I don't get as much out of the story.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, so do I, I am planning on rereading The Talisman and Black House this year, so I'll sneak it in there

message 6: by Dustin (new)

Dustin I'd really like to re-read them later this year, as well. I've actually only read Black House once, but The Talisman twice..

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool! In sort of Sep-Dec I'm doing a big SK read. Just putting this out there: I believe SK is a Drama author in disguise. No offense to people who think otherwise

message 8: by Char (new)

Char Moby Dick. I've never been so bored reading something in my life.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh dear Charlene! Maybe you could try again some time? How long ago was this?

Well, everyone has opinions!

message 10: by Char (new)

Char You liked it, Josiah? I read it...probably about a year ago and I couldn't stand it. Chapter after chapter about different types of whales. OMG.
I wanted to shoot myself!
I'm sorry, Josiah. I generally like classics, but this one was not for me. : )

message 11: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Moby Dick is a very difficult read...but I enjoyed it, for the most part.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Moby Dick I did enjoy, although I took a while to get used to the language/style

I would have to say that my least favorite book was titled "Daughter of Darkness" by V. C. Andrews. It was just plain horrible.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Never heard of that one.

Oh, another bad one is Twilight:Breaking Dawn

I am ashamed to say it, but I enjoyed Twilight: Eclipse;)

message 15: by Char (new)

Char I was just chatting on another group about V.C. Andrews. I guess she died a while ago and someone else writes the books under her name. I had never heard of such a thing before.

Are you serious?! I had no idea she died! I read the series of Flowers in the Attic when I was in high school.

Yes it is called a ghost writer...In the beginning it was never announced who the person was..but now we all know that it is a guy (which is strange considering the main character in all the novels are teenage girls). He has been slipping further and further downhill with all the novels that have been coming out.

message 18: by Char (new)

Char I had heard of ghost writers, in the sense of a James Patterson ghost writer, while the 'real' writer is still alive.
I had no idea that a person's estate had the authorization to sell a dead person's name in that way. Maybe the author herself authorized it before she died, I don't know. I just didn't know it was even possible.

You really didn't know that she passed away, Kathryn!?! I am surprised, because she hasn't been with us for quite some time.. 10 years, at least..

message 20: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Wow, she's been gone much longer than I thought...:(

I believe the only novels that were actually hers where the first two series. She died in the early 80's so her novels have been written by a ghost writer for over 20 years Andrew Neiderman. Her family had him take some short story/ideas that she left behind and had him work with those. Now there must not be any left for the writting is turning into crap lately

message 22: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Thank you, Donna.

message 23: by Holly (new)

Holly | 791 comments I read Lord of the Flies in school, and I didn't like it. I thought it was boring. I don't know if my opinion would change now that I'm older, but so far that's the only book that I can honesty say I didn't like.

Since our opinions do tend to change as we grow older, I would definitely give it another go..:)

I probably will eventually...I have a lot to read at the moment lol.

message 26: by Jason (new)

Jason (jokers_knight_out) Couldn't tell you what my least favorites are since the ones I found boring, I stopped reading them, and I have a personal code of not reviewing ANYthing that I stop.

message 27: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) I loved Lord of the Flies when we read it in school!

What I didn't like at all was Johnny Tremain which we had to read in I think it was 4th grade, hated it, I thought it was boring, even though I'd read and loved other historical stories. I suppose I might have a different opinion were I to give it another go nowadays, but it's not real high on my list of priorities.
Also in high school we had to read Scarlet Letter. I could barely stand it, I just didn't like the peoples' attitudes, and the story itself was slow to me and made me mad, thank goodness I wasn't a woman back in those days with zero rights! Screw that.

Really that's all I can think of, there've been a few books here and there since those days that didn't really impress me, but none that made me shrivel my nose in disgust.

Dustin Case Histories. GrrrR!

message 29: by Victor (new)

Victor My least favorite books would be Dreamcatcher by Stephen King, Beauty Queens by Libba Bray, and Solitary by Alexander Gordan Smith.
I couldn't even finish Dreamcatcer because King decided to kill off all the charactors I liked and bring in some military stuff that I did not enjoy.:( Beauty Queens and Solitary just started good and then turned pretty horrible.

Hi, Victor-

I'm sorry you disliked Dreamcatcher so much that you couldn't bring yourself to finish it... I loved it, personally, but to each their own, right?

I guess so. I might try it in the future now that I know what I'll run into.

Hahahah sparkly vampires!!! Eclipse truly wasn't too bad though.

message 37: by Holly (new)

Holly | 791 comments I don't really have one. I pretty much like everything I read. If it doesn't sound good to me, than I don't read it.

message 38: by Tracy (new)
