Hi everyone! I'm a library associate at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library and the moderator for this group. I'm really excited to read and discuss books with you all!

I've lived in DC for about two years and worked at the library since October. Before that I was getting my Masters in Library Science at the University of Maryland. I've always loved to read, especially literary fiction, but working at the library has really expanded the scope of my reading. So many books pass through my hands everyday and now I find myself interested in more mysteries, popular non-fiction, young adult, etc. When I'm not working or reading, I'm usually cooking or eating something tasty, or looking for a way to get out of the city and into the outdoors.

Hey everybody. I am something of a chronic nonfiction reader and look forward to changing it up with different genres than I would necessarily delve into on my own.

Woohoo! An excuse to read new books! I've gotten into somewhat of a reading rut of late, so I'm excited to have some recommendations for new material, and people to talk about it with.

I'm a radio producer with a large stack of books currently on my nightstand. I've always been more a fiction girl but these last few years have brought out a love for the non-fiction in a big bad way. I look forward to getting on the fiction wagon again with this group!

I love biographies and memoirs...especially funny ones!

Looking forward to try and get back to reading now that I'm a mom. So, need some motivation!!! While lately I've been reading mostly board books, memoirs are probably my favorite genre, followed by general fiction, spirituality non-fiction and knitting books...

Hi, like Kate I'm a librarian at DCPL, but I work at a branch. I'm a book addict, but sometimes I like looking at books, perusing them, making lists of them, and reading bibliographies and reviews more than actually reading the books themselves.
That said, I've been trying to branch out to some new genres as well as catch up on some classics that I never read when I was supposed to.
I run two real life book groups, and I'm looking forward to participating in an online group where I can post comments whenever they occur to me rather than saving them up all month long.

Hi, I'm Mike and I work for DCPL as well. I enjoy teen fiction and sci-fi. Larry Niven, Kevin J Anderson, and Kelley Armstrong are favorites.

Hi, I'm tony -- and am also a DCPL librarian. Prior to libraries, I worked as a graphic designer, and before that, in book publishing. My fave reads tend to be international crime fiction, travelogues, comic novels (which are few and far between), books about soccer, punk rock, and random other stuff.

Hello! I'm Emilie, yet another DCPL librarian. I have a passion for libraries and reading...I have yet to meet a genre of books I don't like. Biographies and memoirs tend to receive a lot of my attention, I especially enjoy biographies in the graphic novel format, but I'm always looking for a good fiction book as well.

Hello! I am a DCPL Library Associate. I work mostly with older youth and have fallen woefully behind in my reading of genres outside the teen-arena. I like future-dystopian novels, noir fiction with strong female characters, graphic novels, and science non-fiction. I am also not afraid to admit I read chick lit and am a fan of Nicky Sparks.

Hello, my name is Rachel, and I'm a DCPL Library Associate at a neighborhood branch. I work primarily with young children at my branch, and have a background in reading education. I like to read literary fiction and nonfiction, children's books, and professional reading/education books. I also love realistic/autobiographical comics and graphic novels.

Hey ya'll, I too work at DCPL as a library asssociate. I love teen fiction, memoirs, especially travel and/or food memoirs, and historical fiction, but will read just about anything that catches my interest. Other than reading I love to cook and try new restaurants.

Hi, I'm Kirstin, and I'm not a DCPL library associate (although I'm a big fan of your work). I like both fiction and nonfiction, but the bulk of my reading definitely falls in YA.

Welcome Kristin! Being a DCPL library associate is not a prerequisite to joining this group, though there do seem to be a lot of us around :)

Hi! I'm Erin, and I (like many others) am a library associate at DCPL; I work at a branch where I do mostly children's services, but I've done adult and YA in the past.

Children's and YA really are my first loves; in terms of adult lit, I read a lot of fantasy and science fiction, the occasional mystery or literary fiction, and nonfiction on whatever topics I happen to be fascinated with at the time. I also enjoy a lot of comics and graphic novels.

I'd like to develop the children's and YA lit presence on this page some more, so any ideas would be more than welcome!

Hi, I'm Lydia and Mt. Pleasant is my closest DCPL branch. I'm following The Tournament of Books right now and have been using the library to read the contenders. (I'm rooting for Mantel's Bring Up the Bodies.)
