One of my many annoyances

- People who talk with a very loud voice in public places. I can't see why I should bother to listen to their stories!
Of course, you could always add a thought or two to the conversation as if you are included in the conversation!
You can add as many annoyances as you want, Elena.

When things are placed in the wrong order.
These are a few of my LEAST favorite things. :P
Yes, I have those on my list too. The worst is when someone moves something and I move it back and they move it again!
Oh, Elena, I am with you! We had to endure this the other night at IHOP! Also the woman at the table sneezed repeatedly without bothering to cover her mouth. We were ready to get up and leave!
The Doctors said last week that a sneeze travels at 100 mph!! and the effects then at over the whole room in seconds!!! Disgusting.

I get annoyed by yuppy mommies who park their stroller/SUV in the middle of aisles at coffee shops. They seem completely unaware of anyone around them. Besides the ridiculous size of their contraptions, the children are often old enough to be in gradeschool. This does not make sense to me. My mom raised 7 kids and we were all about a year and a half apart. She never put us in strollers--especially if we were able to walk!

Oh, I agree but very few kids have a clue about manners these days.
I'm with you, Rhondak and Alice. Of course I have a teenager--an entirely different problem. jss

I agree this is most annoying, Dallas. I used a little stroller when I was in public (but usually didn't use one after three months). I did also have a walking stroller, but who wants to shove that in a car?

Yes, that one gets to me as well. Modern parents seem afraid to discipline their kids. Is it harsh to simply teach them about civic spaces and to respect those that share it?

I couldn't agree more!! I have four kids and have disciplined every single one of them in public. Nothing like a good dose of public humiliation to get kids to behave (oftentimes it's timeouts in the corner of a restaurant). I get a lot of looks; but I don't care.
My main annoyance - people who talk on cell phones while being check out. I think the people servicing you deserve a little more respect and your undivided attention. This also goes for the folks who talk on cell phone when picking up their kids from daycare.

Yes, I know: I'm just getting old!
People that walk abreast down a busy city sidewalk--aargh! You may be enjoying a leisurely day with your friends, but others around you might have somewhere they need to be.
From reading some of the annoyances in these postings, it seems many of them are tied to people being self-absorbed and unaware--often by choice-- of their surroundings.

Yui, have you noticed that people think they are invisible in their cars and so many seem to feel it is the right place to pick their nose. gag.

I have one of those fancy (well, not so fancy by smart phone standards, but fancy by mine) Blackberries for work. Grrr. I was not told I would have to have one. I avoid it as much as possible.
I love it when someone is at work and I am at work and for some reason they call me at my desk on my cell phone. They are in the same building!

LOL Jess!! I often take the bus and since reading on it makes me feel sick, I spend my time watching people on cars passing by... It's a laugh really! It's incredible what people do when they think no one can see them!! :)

Well, they should be paying attention to their driving not their boogers.

I get annoyed with people who lack insight to their thoughts/feelings. With these people, you must invent their thoughts for them (a risky task)or assist them in sorting out their babble or thoughtless actions (an exhausting task).
(Can you tell I just got out of a minor relationship?)

I hope I can help you a bit with this and hopefully save you some future heartache; women are not so keen on having their problems solved when we talk. We don't want men to do that.. at least most of the time. What we want you to do is listen..just listen to us. This is the way we unburden ourselves.
Yes, I know I have violated the sacred oath I took not to give men any clues, but I feel so sorry for them when they look at us cluelessly when we are emoting at full stride.
Rhonda,
Yes, I have heard this before and I don't mind listening at all. It's when someone FREEZES UP that I get frustrated.
P.S. There were no women involved in my relationship. :) Maybe different or at least adjusted rules apply...dunno.

I have had that happen so many times...then I realize that I probably have done it throughout the relationship--since clearly they cannot communicate.

I think people (maybe Americans?) aren't big on reflection and therefore don't know the truth behind their behavior/feelings.
Perhaps, Dallas. Do you think that this is more the case in America?
I was going to say that women are better at communicating than men, but I first will not make such a global statement. Second, I have dealt with many women who are not honest. Women may often be more verbal, but I am not sure that they are always honest in what they say.

I think women have a preferable communication style. Men say less, which can be good or bad. I would rather someone be effusive than silent.
Also white board markers that stop writing when I don't stop. Yes, I've done this--kept writing when the marker stopped.
