Daniel Johnson | 2 comments On the Saturday night before Easter, I was invited to be the guest on Spooky Southcoast, a paranormal-themed radio show based near Massachusetts. At first, they wanted to know if any Mormons had written about the 'paranormal.' I came on to discuss LDS doctrine concerning spirits, angels, the afterlife, and similar topics, but ended up answering many basic questions about our core beliefs. I also got the chance to talk about our book and the origin of the Book of Mormon. Listen to the 7 April archive here: http://www.trumix.com/podcasts/43301

I don't know why, but I never saw this post before. Sorry, Daniel! That link no longer works, but if you downloaded a file, please send it to me; I'd love to listen.

I had a similar experience yesterday. I went to the temple to do some family sealings, and the sealer told us that he was certain that some of the individuals for whom we were doing proxy work were present. The constrast is that when I came home, some family members were watching "Ghost Adventures." They asked for a comparison between what I experienced and what was shown on the TV, and I mentioned that the feeling is entirely different. In the temple, it's all done for love and the benefit of individuals on both sides of the veil. I was able to tell my 10-year-old daughter about some of the special feelings that we experienced in the temple. On the other hand, the TV show provokes spirits - many of whom were not very good people in this life - and there is a lot of bleeping on the audio track. It is a dark and negative feeling that leaves one afraid of the life to come. I'm glad to know that there are better things that can await us if we live righteous lives.
