Riona (rionafaith) | 122 comments Okay, I'm currently reading Babel-17/Empire Star, and it is listed separately from other editions of Babel-17, since the version that includes both the novel Babel-17 and the novella Empire Star is considered an omnibus/anthology, I guess. HOWEVER, it seems like many (all? I haven't investigated this very much yet) of the editions listed under just Babel-17 do in fact contain both works. I would like to combine the relevant 2-work editions and separate out those that only include the novel Babel-17 itself. However, I'm hesitant because I'm far from an expert on this work, and since previous experience has taught me that descriptions here don't always match the actual edition (default descriptions, etc. can confuse matters), so I'm not sure how to double-check which should be combined and separated. Worldcat isn't being very helpful. Ideas?

Riona (rionafaith) | 122 comments Okay, it seems that a lot of the editions are using the default description: "A fascinating tale of a famous poet bent on deciphering a secret language that is the key to the enemy’s deadly force, a task that requires she travel with a splendidly improbable crew to the site of the next attack. For the first time, Babel-17 is published as the author intended with the short novel Empire Star, the tale of Comet Jo, a simple-minded teen thrust into a complex galaxy when he’s entrusted to carry a vital message to a distant world." I have a feeling a lot of these don't actually contain both novels though.

I think I'm going to have to cross-reference the ISBNs on other sites and see if I can figure out definitively which editions contain one novel and which contain both. The easiest way to do this is probably to combine them all (it's only 2 editions that are separate now, I believe), then separate out the ones that contain just the single novel as I find evidence.

Getting started!
