ImScared3222 Where do you usually read?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

When I actually get the time to read in the tub, I'm all about it. My father did it when I was a kid and I grew up doing it, I thought everyone did until I was in high school and learned it was kind of weird to some. But mostly I love to curl up somewhere by a window, rain or shine.

message 3: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mostly in the bed or curled up on the sofa. However, I love, love, love reading in my tub. It is so relaxing.

message 4: by Lyn (new)

Lyn Horner | 24 comments I love reading while in a hot bath, also like to jot down plot ideas in a notebook. My theory is the heat relaxes me and the brain cells function better.

message 5: by cazdoll (new)

cazdoll | 26 comments Nothing better than a hot bath and a good book to relax :)

message 6: by Lucy (new)

Lucy (mesdupmoi) | 334 comments YES!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I also love reading in the bath. I'd like to one day have a hot tub but then likely would never use it :)

stormhawk | 1184 comments I love reading in the bathtub, but I rarely take the time to run a bath and luxuriate like that.

Also, my Kindle does not swim.

message 9: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylkinkaid) I love to read in the tub but I no longer take library books with me. It's too expensive when you drop them in.

message 10: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) If I'm filling up a tub, sometimes I'll dunk my feet in and read for a little while and then when it's full, just listen to music or something. I'm just too terrified of being submersed in the water except for my arms and getting water on my precious books, hahah. (:

stormhawk | 1184 comments I have a long history of getting so into the reading I forget about the other reasons I'm in the bathtub ... the relaxing goes okay, but the washing ... I usually end up realizing I'm sitting in lukewarm to cold water and I end up just letting it drain out and take a shower.

I actually do a good bit of reading in the morning ... after I shower I wrap up in a fluffy terry bathrobe and my Turbi-Twist and read in bed until I'm dry.

I do the same thing!! I save the washing for the end, and even if I've been in the bath an hour the washing takes about 2 minutes and then I'm hopping out after refilling the water to get it hot again lol

message 13: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (porterak) I don't have a proper tub to relax in and read or book. Wish I did cause I sure would enjoy it. But I bet I wouldn't have the time if I did have the proper tub to do it in.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

I read there sometimes, it's fine. I usually bring in a few pillows, an ottoman and some babaganoush and i'm good to go.

message 15: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shananigansreads) My new house has a Jacuzzi tub so I take full advantage of reading and letting the jets massage my legs. I do miss hearing my music and bubble bath though.

What is babaganoush? I've heard the word before but never knew what it was.

message 16: by Jilleen (new)

Jilleen (jilleendolbeare) | 8 comments The bathtub is my favorite spot! I do wish I had a jetted soaking tub though. I have a Nook and since I got it, I've been extra careful in the tub, but I still take it in. I recently soaked in my mom's jetted tub, and I put bubble bath in it. I quickly learned why you can't read, have a bubble bath and run the jets! I still want one though....

message 17: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (httpgoodreadscomrealityshowgirl) | 133 comments I do, I just have to be careful not to drop them in the bathtub, especially if they are library books, which I did one time.

message 18: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (Jasloves) | 94 comments Shannon wrote: "What is babaganoush? I've heard the word before but never knew what it was."

A dip made from mashed eggplant, olive oil and some other ingredients. Yum!

I have a bathtub.. with the jets in my bathroom and the bathroom is connected to my own bedroom but I've never actually used it!
It feels as though I'd be wasting too much water just to fill up the thing!

Looks like I have something to do this weekend then ;)
Bathtub, book, wine and chocolate!!

message 19: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shananigansreads) Thanks Jasmine. Great weekend plans too! :)

message 20: by Buddy (new)

Buddy | 4 comments I don't take many baths, but when I do, I always bring a book! I use a ziplock bag to protect my precious Kindle. ;) I can still work the buttons and see the screen through the plastic bag. (Hope that tip helps some of you.)

My other reading spots: chaise lounge chair (with big fluffy pillows), curled up on the couch, or in bed with an LED light.

message 21: by Theresa (new)

Theresa Contreras (ladycontreras) | 24 comments I read everywhere! I love the bathtub for reading, it keeps my kids and husband out of my hair and it's so relaxing.

message 22: by Natasha (new)

Natasha McNeely (nrfarrell) | 13 comments I started reading in the bathtub just a few weeks ago. I don't do it often, but whenever I really want to relax, I take the time to do so in the bathtub with a good book!

message 23: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 42 comments I never read in the bath, I don't really know why as it sounds exactly like my sort of lazy activity. I prefer to clutch a glass of beer or sparkling wine in the tub...

message 24: by Amy (last edited Jul 13, 2012 04:06PM) (new)

Amy | 3 comments I used to always read in the bathtub, from childhood until my late 20's. I never thought it was weird. After having more kids, it became too difficult to get away for a bath. There were a few years I wasn't able to read at all because I was just too busy being Mom.

Once, I loaned a book to a neighbor girl and she dropped it in the tub while she was reading. UGH! One of my favorite books, too!

Someday, when I get a nice tub, I'll read in the tub again. It's relaxing and quite. For now, I read on the porch, in the car while I'm waiting for the kids, or in bed.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Mm, i never tried in bath unless they come up with waterproof books :)

message 26: by Julie (new)

Julie | 5 comments I read everywhere: bed, couch, standing in lines, trips, and every day I take a bath instead of a shower because there is no better way to relax and in a tub of hot water and a good book

message 27: by Shay (new)

Shay (icylilies) | 94 comments I wanted to read in the bathtub when I was younger, but I was so paranoid that I'd get the pages wet :(

I would want waterproof books :D

message 28: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Curtis (nstaubin84) I read in the tub, mostly in the winter cause frankly it's too hot hot in the summer for that. I've been known to sit in the tub for an hour or more reading, totally forgetting that I'm actually in the water.

Other than that, I try to find any place comfortable. Usually in bed is where I'm most comfortable, but my mother-in-laws couch suffices just fine when I'm here. It's actually rather plushy.

message 29: by Katrina (new)

Katrina Welsh (katrinawelsh_) The one time I read in the bath tub, I forgot I was reading in the bathtub, lowered my hand and soaked the bottom half of the book. The book wasn't even mine. It was from the library. Sorry.

message 30: by Jana (new)

Jana there is nothing better for a rainy day then a hot bath and a good book

message 31: by Theresa (new)

Theresa Contreras (ladycontreras) | 24 comments I ALWAYS read in the tub! It just makes for such an enjoyable experience for me. Hot bubble bath and a good book? = heaven...

message 32: by Tammy (new)

Tammy | 53 comments I love reading in the tub! Very relaxing to have a book and some bubbles:)

message 33: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (httpgoodreadscomrealityshowgirl) | 133 comments Yes I do. I have dropped a few books in the tub a couple of times. I try to be really careful though.

message 34: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Leighanne (sleighanne) I love reading in the tub, though I don't get the chance to do it a whole lot. I only take paperbacks with me (the paperbacks I get are usually super cheap, I'm a bargain hunter) so I don't get too worried about ruining them.
I also bring my nook in the tub with me, but in order to keep myself from dropping it, I put it in a gallon size ziplock bag and that keeps it safe :]

If I don't read in the tub, I'm usually either in my bed or if the weather permits I'm outside on my deck.

message 35: by Tam (new)

Tam Linsey (tamlinsey) | 3 comments I love to read in the tub. I even take my Kindle. Although, I do often discover I've pruned up and the water has become tepid. Nothing a hot after-shower can't fix.

message 36: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Pearl (stephenp11) | 19 comments I use to befor my eyes went. Now my glasses keep fogging up. Anoying.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I love reading in a nice hot bubble bath. :) I must have inherited that from my mother! She is notorious for spending hours with a book in a bath, running hot water every now and then to warm up.

message 38: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Stablein | 1 comments I love to read me the tub recently I found out I need glasses to read up close. How do people handle steam on their glasses? They are readers so contacts are not an option. Any help would be appreciated

message 39: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylkinkaid) yes but I have to be careful with library books. I've had to pay for a few

message 40: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 80 comments Yes, I used to but now, having taken up writing some years ago, my head starts writing instead. The muse takes advantage of seeing me doing nothing much, cheeky blighter.

message 41: by Jim (new)

Jim Vuksic | 96 comments I have not actually bathed in a tub since I was 18-years-old (many, many years ago). Since that time I have preferred to shower instead. I do not recommend that anyone ever attempt to read in the shower,
