Graeme Ing (graemeing) | 4 comments Hello. Georgina kindly invited me. Thanks. I lo e fantasy of all descriptions and steam punk. Right now I am reading the Imago Chronicles book 1, by Lorna Suzuki.

My debut book to come out this summer is YA fantasy, and my WIP is dark fantasy. After that I have a scifi/steampunk crossover I want to write.

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, I'm Georgina, reader, writer, artist, terrible housewife and recluse. :)

message 3: by Tricia (new)

Tricia Kristufek | 9 comments Hi! I'm Trish. I read a lot, I edit, I dabble in writing. I love fantasy books -- some of my favorites are Anne McCaffery and Tolkien.

message 4: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie Hi I'm Lynxie - thanks Georgina for the invite.

I'm a reader, struggling writer and all round nutter :D

I'm currently writing a fantasy novel... chapter 2 here we come :D

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Graeme, Tricia and Lynxie!

:) Georgina.

Tony Rattigan | 17 comments Hi I'm Tony

I write Fantasy stories set in an alternate Victorian era. (Some may consider that they fit into the steam punk genre, some may not.)I've published six books on Amazon and Smashwords and currently working on the seventh.

message 7: by J.A. (new)

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1 comments Hi - JAC here.

I also write fantasy - currently 1 short story and 2 novellas in what is going to be an increasingly long series! All up on Amazon and Smashers, and the novellas are about to be put together for the paperback (looking fwd to that bit!)

Love Tolkien, Andre Norton, Robin Hobb: used to love McCaffrey but haven't had time to keep up with them of late. And there's always Pratchett of course...

So what is Khempunk?? Is the khem the note you put in a golem's head or have I got that mixed up again?
JAC

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Tony (I've read his books, they're great!), JAC (love your work too!) and Sara (I'm really enjoying Steampunk too!) :)

Georgina.

message 9: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1 comments Hi all, Another non-writer (maybe one day). I love to immerse myself in fantasy, so here I am to join my fellow readers :)

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, Misskim.

:) Georgina.

message 11: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) Hi there
Blame Georgina for inviting me - I accepted only because this group is still small! :-) I don't seem to be able to interact in huge groups, but this looks just fine.
I'm a writer and a reader (all writers should also be readers, right?) and this pen-name writes fantasy and some sci-fi while another writes contemporary fiction. I read most genres (no horror, but it's not the topic of this group, LOL). Will take me some time to fill the various folders...
Nice meeting you all (both new and old friends *waves at Georgina, JAC and Trish*)!
Barb

/wave to Barb Hello! Welcome!
A small group with great people is perfectly fine by me! :)

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, I have quit most of the huge groups I was a member of. They are too impersonal. It is a pleasure to invite my friends here, Jaq!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds good. H,P & W is over 600, and I think it works well. The only huge group I've remained with is Rick's James Mason group (because he is lovely and so is the group) oh and Creative Reviews for similar reasons.

Chatty threads sound good. I really like that feedback thread too (aren't all readers potential writers, and all writers, essentially readers?) It's good to share things. And an author resources is handy? I'd like to share word of my copy editor, Tricia, who I believe is also Barbs? Is that possible? :)

Yes, we share Trish as editor! ;-)
I am only in Goodreads Librarians because I'm a librarian (so if anyone needs changes made to their books you can ask me), otherwise the biggest group I'm in is Creative Reviews - was 700 members when I joined, it almost doubled by now. Unlike Georgina, I didn't stay in Rick's group because it's too huge and I don't have time to catch up on the thousands of threads there (I left the M/M group for that reason). Oh, maybe I'm still in the GR Authors/readers group, but don't go there often. The Smashwords Authors group is very small and there's very few interaction, so... dunno about size!

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

My husband edited for me (ex-chef, B.A, English Lit, Hist and Politics, and a Scorpio like you :) ) but we've both been going at the series for so many years, neither of us have fresh eyes anymore. Now he just really wants the finished copy, in his hands, done, no longer open to editing.

Ex-copy editor and graphic design? Too good! :)

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

I pop into Rick's from time to time. I left the round table group. It's enormous. I think it's the combination of people and the dynamics of the group, that make it work or not, as well as the size. And I tend to gravitate towards groups with people I like, and avoid those where there's aggro.

I see 3 versions of your book, the paperback and 2 e-books with both covers...
GR will keep the out-of-print versions anyway, so just leave them! As long as there's also the new one...
And Smashwords Authors are here http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/5...

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) Jaq wrote: "The available hard copy also has the green cover and goes with the covers for the rest of the series all coming out from Paganarchy Press.

not really, as long as the correct cover is with the correct edition, you should just leave it as is. Readers are supposed to write their review under the edition they have read, but not everybody does it, that's why it's possible to combine editions so all the reviews for that book will come out under the title.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm a Librarian too. But as my knowledge is extremely limited (I have to go through the guide very carefully) I tend to just add photos and data for long dead authors, or book covers. I won't add books or anything like that until I know more about what I'm doing!

The Goodreads Feedback group is also a great one to join:
http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1...

Also important to remember that GR doesn't accept amazon links, you need other ones now (for books that is).

message 21: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) GR is not a retailer, but really more like a library. Therefore it will keep on file even "collectors editions" if somebody added them with the right info when they read them...
So as long as the final book available in print or e-book is there, I wouldn't care that old versions are there too. If you check Tanith Lee's The Silver Metal Lover it has many editions and I had to enter the ISBN of my 1986 print copy to find the right one, LOL!

message 22: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell (neniacampbell) Hello! I just joined. I'm currently reading Faerie Tale by Raymond E. Feist and The Queen's Bastard by C.E. Murphy. I sure do love me the reading and reviewing of some good fantasy novels! ♥

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Pikachu! :) I haven't read Faerie Tale yet, is it good?

message 24: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (fabledhattress) Hi everyone! Thanks Gina for the invite! And I'm Sherri :) Reader, writer, music lover, beta reader, blogger, and knitter! And my job doesn't match any of that! xD lol

message 25: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell (neniacampbell) Georgina wrote: "Hi Pikachu! :) I haven't read Faerie Tale yet, is it good?"

Oh, yes! It's like a cross between fantasy and horror. Since it was written in the 1980s, it's a wee bit cheesy, but it deserves way more recognition than it has, and I'm already in the midst of formulating a glowing review. If you like fae lore, check it out! :)

message 26: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 07, 2012 07:42PM) (new)

Will do then, Pikachu! Thanks, added :)

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Sherri! :) Gina

message 28: by L'Poni (new)

L'Poni (lponi) | 60 comments Hello, I'm Nipaporn (it's Thai and means From the Sky, no puns about the "porn" part) and I'm a hardcore gamer and I write about space dragons in a big book called The Society On Da Run. I don't read that much except short stories, and I'm an avid anime geek. I've currently begun watching Kuroshitsuji. Wooot! That show, what a ride! I thank Georgina for inviting me here. Being a gamer, I like playing games for their immersive stories and I just LOVE reading flash fiction. CAKE!

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Nipaporn! I've invited all of my friends that like fantasy. That way I get to chat to you all here :):) Gina.

message 30: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (fabledhattress) Welcome!

message 31: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell (neniacampbell) Yes, he's a little cheesy but still has a lot of talent. I'm having a blast reading FT--it's so fun! Glad I succeeded in pimping him out. ;)

Yayyyyy for fellow book-whores. ♥

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

"Yayyyyy for fellow book-whores. ♥"
Seconded!

message 33: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (fabledhattress) Lol! bookwhores xD never heard that one before!

message 34: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell (neniacampbell) It's my nickname in the family. I *think* it's supposed to be affectionate... >___>

:P

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

It's a great one, one to wear with pride! Yes, I am a lover of books, and yes, I am sometimes intimate with numerous books at the same time. And guess what? I feel no shame! :D

message 36: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (fabledhattress) I agree!!! I just won't say it around my mom xD

message 37: by L'Poni (new)

L'Poni (lponi) | 60 comments I didn't know there were "book-whores. ♥" I had a little laugh-out-loud moment. I'm glad to be in this group.

Luis Fuentes | 7 comments Hello, I'm Luis. And I'm a book addict, I've been one since I've been a small lad. The most recent book I read is the spirit war by Rachel Aaron. Glad to be here.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

message 45: by April (new)

April Hi all! I'm April and I'm new to the group:) Not sure I'd be considered a fantasy 'geek' but I do love my fantasy:) Generally wrapped in a time-travelling highlander would be good...but I adore my elves and magic schools. My current fave has been Karen Marie Moning's Fever series...I'm always looking for new and fun reads in this vein! I'm currently reading The Sword of Shannara...I know, I know, I've heard good and bad..but I'm having fun so far:) So...looking forward to seeing what everyone is reading and talking about~

Hey, everybody! I'm pretty much a Fantasy geek and proud of it. I have read a lot of fantasy over the years. Some of my favorites include but are not limited to (in no particular order): J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Lawrence Watt-Evans, J.K Rowling, Margaret Weis& Tracy Hickman, Cornelia Funke, Brandon Sanderson, George R.R. Martin, and especially my friends John Marco and G.T. Denny.

I followed April to the group and am currently joining her in a group read of The Sword of Shannara. I'm also currently reading The Grimoire: Lichgates on my Kindle for PC and planning on starting Mistborn: The Final Empire when I finish one of my other current books.

Haha! Funny to see you here too! Instead of joining a group, I probably could have just spent more time on your "read" page! Maybe we'll find more great stuff!!! Looking forward to see what you think of "The Grimoire" I added that to my TBR a few days ago...it sounds awesome!:) *clink* here's to finding more incredible worlds to get lost in!

message 48: by Stefan (new)

Stefan Yates (stefan31) | 27 comments Mod
Thanks, April! Yeah, I've read a lot of fantasy in my day (along with a lot of other stuff, I DO like to mix up my genres.) You and I do seem to have a lot of similar tastes though, so if you're searching for something to read, let me know and I'll see what I can dig up for you.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)
