I thought it might be useful to have a thread that talks about what sort of posts go in each folder. I'm an ex-public servant, so it's all about the filing! ;P

FOLDERS:

Rules & Instructions MUST READ
This is the top folder for a reason. Everyone should check out the Rules thread before posting. It's also for instructions, how-tos and answering frequently asked questions.

CR Group Stuff
Threads about what people want to do in the group and how they want to do it.

Books & Reading In General
General threads about books, reading, writing, reviewing and related subjects.

Talking About Specific Books
Threads that relate to specific books. Ever read a book and just HAVE to talk to someone about it? Or have a burning question about the book you just read? This is where those go.

It's all about you
The touchy-feely getting-to-know-you stuff.

Pimp Your Stuff HERE ONLY
This is the one and only thread in the group where authors, publishers, bloggers etc can market their work to their hearts' content.

Book buying, devices & apps
Spamless lists of cheap books, chatting about how much you love or don't love your Kindle, how shitty the GR app is etc etc.

Books By Tag
I don't like genre labels, but I can live with tags. These threads are for listing books you like that fit particular tags or groups of tags. That way people who are looking for a particular kind of book can browse the threads for suggestions.

Particular authors
Exactly what it sounds like. If you want to talk about a particular writer's work, here is the place to do it. No pimping your own stuff though please.

Recommendation Requests
If you're looking for a particular kind of book and want suggestions tailored to your tastes, ask the group to recommend books for you here. Spam-free.

Chaos Reading Bookclub
I'm hoping we'll be able to do some group reads and/or challenges in the future.

Super random happy fun time
Whatevs man. Just no spam.

If you've got suggestions on folders you'd like to have, feel free to make them here..

Ankit Agrawal | 7 comments My reading is very US Centric. As I live in a small town the collection is not great here (its again very US Centric only). And thats the reason I don't get much to know about books from different countries and authors. So here I would like to request you to make a folder wherein we can have all the countries listed and members can post the books they have read related to a particular country.

I have seen that you have made one folder like that. But only Afghanistan is added. If we can have various countries added that would be great

Hi Ankit. We're quite a new group, but we have started a process of going through book recommendations for every country in the world. We've gotten through most of the "A"s here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...

It's a VERY time consuming process, especially for the moderator, but I'll be starting threads for each of the countries under various other letters from time-to-time.

The thread you're referring to on Afghanistan is actually one of our member's projects where she's working her way through them all in alphabetical order.

In the meantime, we've got threads with some wonderful recommendations for Asian, Russian and Latin American literature. These go onto group bookshelves which are updated from time to time. You can find all those book nominations here, and most are up on our shelves: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...

I think you'll find we're a pretty diverse group of readers, so even a lot of the other nominations tend to be from around the world. Enjoy!
