Helga (helga666) | 31 comments Yes i read all 4 books and i want more. my favorite is the 3ired book, with phlip and Rya.

I lightened to them all on adio book, and the tangled web in the univers i amassing.

Any one elles read all 4 books, what did you think of the hole univers.

If you just read 1&2 the second cahpter of #3 gives you a Chaz and sully update that takes the sting out of the ending.

Im my option 1&2 where one book, and an exelent book at that.

the big thing you find out in 2 is Sully gives up captancy of his ship over to Chaz, she the captain hes just the owner and, helps anywhere he cant. he gave up being the captain so Chaz could do what see loved. all thogh by this point they are but one mind so even tho they have camaned desistions arguments they are all in there head(note head not head's).

The absolute power corrupts absolutely form the second book was done well, with Del showing that sully really loves Chaz, and yes he could of maid her but didn't.

Book #3 was an extent military SF, Phlup now ruing the revelation, and falling in love with Rya, former Impireal assassin who's father was assassinated for being a loyal friend to Phlup. there is not much actual romance in this but lots of romantic tension.

I love her character her determination, and spirit. I like how some of the Cruw is afaid of here because she is a trained killer yet Philup relised that that's what they need in this was. I really like the comment abut her wondering the halls with an arsenal, hunting something(someone).

Love this story and loved the characters.
my favort line was

Phlup:I should have never left you unarmed
Rya: I bite
Phlup: I know

#4 was a great tail connecting you back to book one with the dater of the fraiter captain that got killed trying to get Chaz of Moabar. and to Phulps Family, loved this book a lot puled things back to gather espeshealy the last 10 minuses where they link all 3 story lines to gather and update on the characters from the prevues two story's.

I'm just starting book 2 now and I wanna see what happens. I actually read book 3 a while ago out of order and Really enjoyed it, so I look forward to filling in the gaps! Have a feeling the rest of the group is gonna avoid the rest though hahah. I think book 1 feels like a first book REALLY so it's hard to defend it as much as I'd like. I still loved the endin tho.

There is a 4th book? :D What's the title? I swear, amazon.de couldn't find it. And here I was thinking I had to wait a year or something to know what else is going on in space.

I really really liked Gabriel's Ghost and its sequels. The characters are great, the plot is very entertaining and all relationships - not just the romantic ones - are well done.
And I want Ren to get someone next. xD

I just finished 3 and (since it was the one I almost picked until I saw it was #3 in the series) I am kicking myself for changing because it's SUCH A GOOD BOOK! LOVED all the miliary SF, loved the conflict/attraction between Rya and Philip, and I thought she was a kick ass gun loving protagonist to celebrate

PointyEars42 | 476 comments I had such high hopes: I was going to skip #2 & zip through #3 instead so that while (drunkenly) watching the Hangout I could agree that yes, book #3 was awesome and it's where we should have started.

I sat down with it and skimmed the dedication before starting... and didn't get any further. Rainbows! Aaaaarrrrrgggghhh!!!!! The word rainbow appears in the dedication! I've never been stalked by a word before. It's as creepy as you would imagine.

I think I'm going to go have a little lie down and see if I feel up to the challenge of book #3 later ... and I probably will. I read Newberry's novella and that pulled me back into The Iron Seas series even though I didn't want to risk reading more rapey-sex, so I guess authors do deserve a second chance.

Helga (helga666) | 31 comments I just read book two of Iron seas and it is amassing and the opposite of Iron Duck. In Heart of steel she is demanding sex form him and he keep saying no.
I could not find the Newberry novella in audio book.

ya in the Dock 5 books the Phrase "a long second" started getting to me by the middle of the third book but i don't rember any rainbows on book 3.

And i didn't skip book two it answers a lot of the loos ends in the relationship on book one. in my option book one and two are one book. Chaz find her strength in book two.

I've only just started book 3 but... holy frak, Felicia! Is this even by the same author?! Yes, there's so much familiar material worked in here that I can't believe Lucas Film haven't unleashed their lawyers on it, but Rya has a brain, Phillip is a silver fox, their universe is about to go up in flames... and I'm having fun! No way is this by the same author!

Cool, this cements my decision to skip book 2 and just read 3. I liked Phillip MUCH better in GG than either Sully of Chaz. And silver fox, UNF

I just finished Shades of Dark and I think it was much better then Gabriel's Ghost. Even though there was plenty more Sully/Chaz drama, it seemed much more realistic and was less irritating than the wishy-washyness of Chaz in Gabriel's Ghost.

I was pretty disappointed in Dorsie & Marsh's reaction to Sully being a Kyi though. After all the drama with Ren in Gabriel's Ghost their reactions seemed way too low key.

I wish the two books had been edited down to one book, it would have cut the annoying parts out and I think the romance is much more satisfying and complete after Shades of Dark (not to mention the main story arc is more complete as well).

Is it just me or is this becoming an issue across all genres? Everything I pick up lately is part of a series... but each book feels like a chapter culled out of a larger tome and sold independently to increase sales figures. There's always page after page of filler in a novel the length of a little Mills & Boon romance, but when you've completed the series it doesn't take much analysis to see how it should have been one or two long but satisfyingly good books and not 6 little serials.

Finished it.... and I'll say again: holy frak! Is this even by the same author?! Imagine DI Lestrade in BBC's Sherlock meeting Jo Lupo from Eureka. In spaaaaaaaace.

jillz, keep it at the top of your to-read list.

jillz (jillzz) I just finished Hope's Folly and it was SO GOOD. I'm so glad that I read it. I loved Phillip and Rya! I loved the plot and the tension! I really couldn't believe that it was written by the same author either. I still can't!

Thanks for encouraging me, PointyEars42!
