Emy (emypt) | 5037 comments 1. Is there a specific policy with regards to Corporate Author names? E.g. LC, BlahBlah (Firm), or is a form like BlahBlah or BlahBlah Company preferred? Also, leading THE when not in an official name (as per The Hershey Company) do we retain the initial THE as many companies seem to have duplicate entries with and without it.

2. Colouring books and similar. I know sticker books are being NAB-ed (e.g. locomotives stickers), but I stumbled over this author entry today and was wondering about colouring books: Coloring Books...

(As an aside I also found Trains which seems to be a subject heading as author field. Am working on it now...)

Kara (karaayako) | 30 comments I didn't see anything official in the manual.

Like people, companies have legal and DBA (doing business as) names. I would assume that we would use the legal name if that's how the company publishes and the DBA if not. Adding "Company" or "Firm" wouldn't make sense if that's not part of its actual name.

Here are some examples of companies as authors: Project Management Institute, Gmac, and ESI International

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments 1. I don't think there's a standard for this. If you can find variants, they should be merged together; you might want to see if there's a variant which is most commonly used and keep that one so that future books will wind up in the correct profile automatically.

2. Coloring books are NABbed except when they are also reference books or story books. (Here's the entry in the manual.) Most of the top listings at that coloring books link look like they are reference books or story books, so they are valid books and should not be NABbed.

However, "Coloring Books" isn't a valid author -- it looks like it's something coming in from the onix firebrand import, probably some categorization which was mistagged as an author.
