ONTD Book Club discussion

I wish I can post this on ONTD but I doubt any of the mods will approve it since it's mainly about the author's poor use of synonyms. As book and/or language lovers, I think we can all side-eye this :)

She seriously went out of her way with some of these word choices when a much simpler one would do!

Some of these are expressions a British, middle-aged woman would use, not an American 20-something college student. Clearly, editing was not her publisher's forte.
