MB's Book Diary: What She Read in 2009

You know, I'm not too sure what to think about "Fool". Offhand I found it kind of annoying. All the bawdy jokes and slapstick humor were funny but just too much--which annoyed me! I felt like it detracted from the plot. All that contrasted with the very dark play...it didn't seem like it 'fitted' together. But I loved the ending and that brought up my 'grade' a bit! I think Fool is something I'm going to keep in the back of my mind and re-evaluate how I feel about it in a year or so. If I want to re-read it, I'll likely bump the grade up to a 4 star. If not, it'll stay at a 3-star read for me.
My favorites so far have been Fluke, Dirty Job, and Stupidest Angel. I wouldn't rate Fool up as high as those. At least not yet! But if you like Lamb, then you probably WILL like Fool.
Be sure to tell me what you think about it when you read it. Now I'm curious!
BTW, I've never been to a book signing. I bet one of his would be crazy! He's very articulate on his website and he reads! I've got good recommendations from him before. I'm getting ready to try Ben Elton because he mentioned his name as an influence in Fool.
Somewhere, in one of his Fool interviews, I read that he is working on a 3rd vampire book. I think its called Bite Me. I'm looking forward to that!

I really liked Sarah Caudwell's "The Sibyl in Her Grave". Did you?
The characters delighted me!

FYI: I usually post a review on the books I have read (although it is not so much a book review as it is how I felt reading it.)
Since I don't want to clutter up anyone's mailboxes more than necessary, I'm not going to duplicate the reviews here. If you're interested in what I thought, go to the book's title and read my review. (I'm interested in how you felt about it if you've read it too.)
