I love a good book, my favourites are always actual books. But I also have a kindle, where I buy books that I haven't tried before.
I love them both, but I have to say, there's nothing like holding an actual book, turning it's pages and seeing it sit in your bookcase.

So, I vote- book, I do love ebooks though.

Isa (sophiiiebabes) | 1 comments Well... technically, I love the actual books, especially the wonderful aroma of old paper. xDD I love holding it in my hands and actually flipping its pages. But since e-books are free and dust-free and evironment-friendly-ish... I guess I vote e-book.

Elisar (ehlihr) | 92 comments Books definitely have a sort of… magical feel to them. But in reality, the e-book is definitely more efficient. I’m a fifty-fifty on this one.

Erika (erikamiller) | 7 comments Definitely books, ebooks are not the same...

Elisar (ehlihr) | 92 comments This is making me feel odd. I’m getting one as a present from my dad in a few days… XD

Ereaders are awesome! I've got one ;)

Elisar (ehlihr) | 92 comments I’m getting the Kindle Fire. I checked - it holds up to 6000 books. O.o

That's so awesome! I'v got a kindle 3g I don't know how many it holds but I've got heaps already

message 9: by Elisar (new)

Elisar (ehlihr) | 92 comments I checked all Kindle info, the Kindle 3g holds 3000.

Rachel (velliya) | 441 comments Mod
Wow... that's a lot ...

message 11: by Elisar (new)

Elisar (ehlihr) | 92 comments Yup… I think it’s more efficient. What if you buy a book you don’t like? It’s easier to delete, than to keep it in your house or whatever.

i just love owning books- i want to have a library one day :)
and like most of you, i love the feel of a book in my hands, and walking into my room and seeing all my favourite books just piled up- it makes me proud. But i do have a kindle, and i love that too- for the price, the design, the convenience. and also, books are about the stories- true booklovers should think this, too.
for me, it's a 50/50, because buying actual books is more expensive. but good quality books, especially hardcovers, are keepers.
pretty much all the classics on the kindle store are free, but there are $50 leatherbound versionsof these which are truly beautiful and would be gorgeous to own. and i guess with classics, ereaders are sort of lowering their value in making them all free, but at the same time, making them more availabe and accessible to people who like free stuff.
it's hard to decide :)

Remember the beautiful version of the Illiad in Dymocks? Expensive, but I would so buy it
:)

Amethyst | 4 comments I prefer books. E-books make my eyes hurt...:/
And I just LOVE the feeling of the book in my hands, the smell, the sound of the pages. It feels more real when I can actually hold it. :)

message 18: by Clare (new)

Clare (claremay13) | 7 comments Book. I love my bookcase, for me half the fun of reading a book is going to the bookshop and touching the books, then coming home and putting them in my bookcase and then seeing the looks of 'wow she reads alot' by my friends when they see said bookcases.

So basically i think books rule.

message 19: by L (new)

L Books. I love hardbacks and paperbacks. I do not have a kindle or e-reader, but i do read books on my computer and it is not the same at all. It not only takes me so much longer to read them (as my vision becomes blured from stairing at the screen for so long, whilst sitting upright in my chair), but i do not like the fact that i can't physically turn the pages or see the cover or take it with me as i move around. I will always prefer the actual thing.

message 20: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ There are definitely benefits and weaknesses of both. I have more of a sentimental attachment to physical books, and I don't plan to ever give them. Although I also have a Kindle, and it is convenient in a lot of ways. Anyway, I think books and ebooks each have their own positive traits.

Books:

- The satisfaction of holding the physical copy and turning the pages.
- The smell of ink! :)
- No glare.
- Doesn't run out of battery.

Kindle:

- Adjustable font and text size.
- Can be read in the dark.
- Can hold hundreds of books at once.
- Is more lightweight and generally easier to transport.
- Access to tons of free classics on Amazon.

If I had to choose, I would probably give up ebooks. But, I do love both!

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Book all the way :) I love showing off my book-case of trillions of books xD

that's true, but recently I bpught a 9000 page textbook on my kindle. You couldn't buy a book that size for real

Lo (darkalleycookies) | 8 comments Nice
Book, because I don't like reading stuff on my tiny iPod

message 24: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (velliya) | 441 comments Mod
Yeah, it's annoying to read stuff on phones and ipods

message 25: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (Oceanwhisper) Yeah, and mum says it stuffs your eyes (on an e-reader). And yeah, you probably wouldn't be able to buy one huge book with 9000 pages, it would have to come in like Part 1, Part 2 maybe a Part 3 as well ;) But then that's more moeny than just buying the whole thing on an electronic thingy xD

message 26: by Karla (new)

Karla Rades (karlosalis) I say eReader but Sarah, i did research (I'm getting one for x-mas) they are bad for your eyes if they have a backlight (they glow like a computer, ipad, ipod ect ect and you cant read in the dark) and most have no backlight

message 27: by Caylee (new)

Caylee (cayleeknopfmacher) I like to read ebooks and I have read a lot, but I honestly prefer to read an actual book. My favourite books are books that I have read many times with broken spines.

message 28: by Carlos (new)

Carlos (encore) It's a hard one for me. I like the smell of some books, and the sound of turning pages. But if I have a large book that's 600+ pages, an ereader is better. For me it doesn't really matter, as long as I have a good story to read.
