Weekly Short Stories Contest and Company! discussion

This is a thread for members who want to post photos. For some people who don’t have high-speed Internet, photos can be slow to come up and can be a nuisance when they’re posted in the main threads. Photos should be posted in the threads specifically meant for them, such as this one and “Book Covers.”

Below is a snapshot I uploaded to Photobucket, then pasted into the comment box, using the direct link and the formula given by Edward below, though I had to play with the dimensions a little. I’ll title this photo: “Hi! I’m M.”



Here’s a cover I drew years ago for a book of short stories. The dimensions in the code are 620 wide by 455 high.

After linking it, you can adjust this size thus:

(Without the "-.-" before.)

So.... How do I go about posting a photo? First M asked me to try and post one here, then he asked me to put one in the group photos.

M!! You should know I'm technologically difficult.

Go to the little group link shelf, with "Group Home" and "Discussions" and click on "Photo." You should be able to find "add photo" on the new page. Then you copy the page that your new photo is on (the link in the address bar) and put it in this:

(Without the "-.-") Make sure you get all the spacing right, or it'll do something weird.

Yes, my marker phase. I had dry erase boards all over my apartment. It was a way to help my son with his homework. Easier to do math standing, all the waiving and pontification. It quickly evolved into learning how to draw Manga.

Thanks, Ryan! I often have thoughts of putting a witch's hat and a black cloak on her. I don't think she'd be onboard with that, though. In fact, she might live up to her moniker of "The Nose Biter" if I tried to put clothes on her. Hehe!

As long as we’re on the topic of kitties, here’s the elderly orange fuzz ball the cat in “Picklebee, God of Death” is based on. Her real name is Smokey and she’s MUCH nicer than Picklebee. In fact, I’d even dare call Smokey a sweet old grandma kitty.

He's looking at the girl's ball and the words from his mouth come out like the Black Death. I did one of a girl flying a kite, didn't feel right, so just went dark on this one.

Darkness makes everything better, especially since Halloween is only a month and a half away.

You can also do it this way, take away the spaces, leave the one between img and src and put the image url in the "". Then you don't need to mess with dimensions.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the next feline super couple, Luna and Nacho, a.k.a. LuNacho:

Thought you might be interested in my album of photos taken on October 12 when we took a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway here in NC. Fair warning, this album has 158 photos, but you don't have to look at all of them, and you should be delighted that I didn't upload all the photos I took that afternoon because I took about 400! No joke! I am an avid photographer. My camera is a Canon EOS D20,and I used my 28-135 mms, .5 mms macro lens. Used the same lens for all the photos, just changed the settings as I went along. None of the photos have been enhanced in any way - it really was that bright and neon-like when the sun came out, which it did sporadically. The higher the elevation, we went as high as 6500 feet, we were more in dense clouds and fog, but even then, when there was any visibility at all, the sights made for interesting fun, and most were worthy of a photo or two. As far as processing goes, because there were so many sightseeing leaf-peepers with their cars that day, I cropped out a few cars and/or people from a small number (about 5) of the pics, and couple were cropped to create a better composition. My camera is about 6 or 7 years old at least, but it is a treasure, and was a gift from a (then) total stranger. I hope you enjoy these. Because of my increasing disability/immobility issues, this is the first photo jaunt I have been able to make in months. I have missed it so, and perhaps gotten a bit rusty in technique, but the joy and enthusiasm is as bright and shiny as ever, if not more.
