Carol (actutor) How are things in your area? Have you been impacted by the wildfires?

message 2: by Annika (new)

Annika Thanks for asking Carol! We have a 230 acre fire burning southwest of Boulder. They are working really hard to get it under control because if it crosses the ridge of the south flatiron it will be in town and then it could be catastrophic. I live well north and east but know plenty of people in that area. Colorado springs has a very scary fire burning and so does fort Collins. Our weather is too hot and too dry and our air quality is terrible. Thanks for thinking of us and send positive thoughts for rain. I've lived here for 18 years and this is the worst I've ever seen!

Mary | 236 comments I've lived here since 1978, and this is way worse than I've seen, too, Annika. I guess there are about 12 fires burning throughout our state, but the ones that most people are especially concerned with are the three that Annika mentioned. I've been most impacted personally by the one near Ft. Collins, about 35-40 miles from us. Friends of ours lost their home which they'd built themselves, and other friends are concerned about the fire reaching their cabin. We've had smoke in Greeley, depending upon the way the wind is blowing. The authorities are expecting these fires and others to be a problem all summer long. Thanks for thinking about us in our poor scorched state!

Sandy (odamom) | 18 comments I heard the High Park fire at Ft. Collins should be under control by now. It was reported to be 98% controlled last night. I sure hope so, we are going to Estes Park and The Rocky Mountain National Park in a little more than a week!

The ravages of nature have been overwhelming during the past few weeks. Neighbors went to Disney World and encountered "Debbie," and came home to downed trees after the "derecho" in our area.
I hope you get to enjoy other parts of the United States while you are here.
I hear there are fires in Wyoming now.
