OK. I read the first three chapters. My thoughts: Chey is stupid. She goes out hiking in the middle of nowhere and doesn't tell anybody? Dumb.
And second: what was she looking for? The book mentions that she was looking for something, but it hasn't been revealed yet. I can't imagine it being so importantly secretive that she can't tell anybody where's she's going. Especially with the possibility of death.
But then, I am really tired and irritable right now, which my be the cause of my hostility towards the book so soon into it. Imma go get some sleep now. Tell me whatchya think of the chapters.

For some reason, it's different than other books I've read. I'm not saying this book is totally out there with a completely new spin on werewolves; but I am saying that I didn't expect it to start off the way it did.
So...yeah, I'm interested so far. I wonder what the overall plotline is gonna be about...

Oh, and, in response to your question about Chey's seemingly instantaneous belief in werewolves: I think she might've gone out into the wilderness in the first place searching for them. Or something. Wellington keeps dropping hints that Chey's intentions aren't so innocent. It hasn't exactly been explained what she was doing in the wild anyway.
OK, where are you? I read a few more chapters but I don't wanna say anything if we're not on the same page (no pun intended:P)
Yeah. I think it's kinda weird how she still somewhat retains conscious thought, and yet she doesn't.
Oh snap. I just realized that this group read is almost over. Where does the time go, right? And I'm only on chapter 16. I will be reading a lot today and tomorrow.

Oh, we aren't at all strict about the group reads. You can post on threads that are months old, that's cool with me! Besides, I'm not even done with it yet. I may have to read alongside you in August as well:D
I've still got a few more chapters. I'll be finished today. But now, there's a question that's also been bugging me: sleep? Being a werewolf must cause some serious sleep deprivation. During the day she's human, and at night she's a ravenous, bloodthirsty werewolf. When does she sleep????
OK, I have finished. I didn't really like it. I agree with Martha, WHAT THE HECK IS DZO!?!?! Some Native American spirit thing?
And everything else...well, I didn't really like the writing style that Wellington used every time he was writing from the perspective of Chey's wolf. It was kind of repetetive and annoying. And I didn't like any of the characters. And the story itself just wasn't interesting to me.

Yeah, I see your point there. How DO animals think...? Not in words, obviously, but I guess their thought process is simple and basic....
Dzo was the only likable character, but the book left him such a loose end! What happened to him, what he was, etc........!!!!

I know!! Her dad was eaten and she was tormented for 12 years. Most people don't let that go so easily.
If I had been ferociously seeking vengeance for 12 years, I wouldn't have come to that conclusion so logically. But whatever! Maybe when she's not being traumatized, she's calm and levelheaded.
First A Beautiful Dark, then Harmonic Feedback, and now Frostbite. We never pick any good books!
