Hi all:

We are going to be reading a book by Bentley Little for the Aug-Sep 2012 group read. Please nominate the one you'd like to read. Use the book link when you add your book, if possible. One nomination per person.

Thanks!

My nomination is The Store.

Nikki I have read all of his books, this one is the first one I read of his and its what got me hooked. This one is my recommendation.

The Town

Sounds like a good one, Nikki!

message 5: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I had to think a little more about it before I posted. I own every single one of his books, pre-order his new ones when they come out and finish them usually within the day I get them in the mail. I'm addicted to his books.

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) The only one by him I have is The Return. I'll nominate it, as I'd like to read it one of these days, but it definitely doesn't have as many good reviews as The Store or The Town...

Kenny | 3 comments The Resort is also a good one. I think it's the first book I read by Little. Made me want to read more.

Ann (annrumsey) | 466 comments I had never heard of Bentley Little. I hope we pick one I can read on Overdrive epub. The: House, Resort, Return, Store, Town, Vanishing or Revelation. Mixed reviews on that last one, his first.

So far all the ones nominated are in your epub list, Ann.

This is what Stephen King says about Bentley Little:

"BEST OUTRIGHT HORROR NOVELIST. Bentley Little, in a walk. Don't know Bentley Little? You're not alone. He's probably the genre's best-kept secret, but at least 10 of his novels are available in paperback; you can pick up three for the price of that flashy new hardcover you've got your eye on. The best thing about Little is that he can go from zero to surreal in 6.0 seconds. My favorites are The Store (think Wal-Mart run by SAYYY-tan) and Dispatch, in which a young fellow discovers that his letters to the editor actually get things done. Bad things."

message 10: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I just have to say that Dispatch was my least favorite of all his books. Unlike some books over the years, I can vividly remember the plot lines to all of his books, that's just how addictive he is for me.

Definitely sounds like you are a big fan, Nikki. Can't wait to read my first book by him. Been looking forward to some good horror!

We've got 4 nominations. I'm going to close this thread and put up a poll so we can vote.
