Gwynne Hi everyone. My boyfriend is trying to find an author that he really enjoyed when he was younger, but is getting no where. I thought I might throw it out to this group. Below is his description. Please let me know if you have any ideas or recommendations on where else to look. Thanks!!

I've been trying to find an author I enjoyed as a kid for years now and haven't had any luck. I don't remember a lot about his/her books, but I know he had probably 3 or 4 horror books aimed at children/young adults. They all had a similar look, very simple covers with a single color and a moderately spooky illustration and the font reminds me of the font used on this book cover:

I only vaguely remember 2 of his books.

One was black, and the story reminded me a lot of Stephen King's Needful things, though obviously aimed at a younger crowd. It involved a magician or some other mysterious trickster, coming to town and selling people what their heart desired, or something along those lines.

The second was blue, and I remember even less. it may have had something to do with a magical potion or something like that.

Hopefully this rings a bell for someone? I'd love to track this author down.
Update: Suggestions I've already ruled out include Scary Stories, RL Stine, Christopher Pike and Paul Gallico.

That would be my guess as well! by Bill Britain:
Dr. Dredd's Wagon of Wonders
The Wish Giver
The Devil's Donkey
