What types of DH/BB heroes can be found in contemporary romance? We'd love recommendations!

message 2: by Zee (new)

Zee Monodee (zee_monodee) | 688 comments Megan Hart has some pretty edgy/dark heroes in her erotica.

Victoria Dahl has been known to write some bad boys in her series.

message 3: by Jill (new)

Jill Kristen Ashley for sure. She writes the best bad boys.

I picked up Breathe by Kristen Ashley. I think that will be my first read by her. Yes, I know it's not the first book in the series. The storyline appeals to me a lot.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Never read Kristen Asheley's books but hear a lot of positive feedback...think i'll check her book in my library today.

That was my first read by KA too.

Grace Thersa | 5 comments I'll have to get acquainted with Kristen Ashely... this is why I'm so excited by goodreads, when I have have read all that my favorite authors have penned, I come here and find a new favorite, yeah!

My satisfying re-reads are JR Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Latrivia Nelson's Meldov series edge with a capital E, and Suzanne Brockmann's earlier troubleshooters series.

message 19: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 39 comments If you haven't read Kristen Ashley you will love her (hopefully). I Read the Dream Man Series then moved onto the Rock Chick and I have most of her other books on my ereader. At this time she only has books out in ebook form but she was just picked up by Grand Central Publishing and her rock chick series is going to be coming out in print starting this year. This is one author that I will be picking up the print version of the ebooks.
I love Kristen Ashley's bad boys, same with Lauren Dane, Maya Banks, Sophie Oak, Jaci Burton, Lora Leigh, Cherise Sinclair, Roni Loren, Ilona Andrews, Jeaniene Frost. Just to mention a few.

Andrea my TBR pile of books/ebooks have more than doubled and the only ones to blames are my friends here on goodreads. It's crazy just when I think that I have enough someone else gives me another name. I could always say no but that just doeesn't seem to happen. As I always tell a friend of mine thank god books don't go bad because my piles are going to take a while to get through. Exspecailly when I'm still adding more to the pile all the time.
I would like to say that I won't continue to get more books but I know that just isn't going to happen.
As long as I can afford to do it I will buy more books that's just a fact of my life.

I would suggest Pepper Pace. I just finished Beast, and if all her heroes have the delicious vibe of Christopher, I am all in!

message 26: by Megan (new)

Megan (thebookhunter) | 21 comments My fav of Kristen Ashley BB is prob Tack from Motorcycle Man (Dream Man, #4) by Kristen Ashley . Love love love this book! It's the fourth in the series tho but the whole series is good. I also like Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker series, to me they are DH's and are awesome! Kresley Cole, Christina Dodd, Shelley Laurenston, Marjorie M Lui, J D Rodd (one word, Roarke...le sigh) to name a few more. I generally like my BB more in paranormal books than regular contemps, not sure why.

I'm probably more of a PNR fan as well, Megan. As far as contemporaries, I like the ones that have an air or danger or suspense. But I admit, I'm a sucker for Harlequin Presents books.

That's so accurate! Though I've only read Midnight Man by LMR, I'M COMPLETELY INLOVE with KA's books, and I really liked the KGI series. Also, the Man Who Walk The Edge Of honor by Lori F. is very good, I think the third book is the best Savor the Danger

I also read Pamela Clare's the I- Team series and Looved every book. Specially:Unlawful Contact, Hard Evidenceand Breaking Point.
And Sherrilyn Kenyon has a contemporary series called B.A.D. and I really enjoyed these two: Whispered Lies and Silent Truth.

Hope you'll like them

What is it about sappy, cheesy ass Harlequins that I can't resist?

that they are comfortable and easy to get into is what i decided.

I think you've got a valid point. They only take a few hours to read, they don't require a lot of brain work when you're tired or stressed, and you pretty much know what to expect when you start. lol!

As far as Harlequins, I like that you can read them pretty fast and you get your expectations met.

Susan (suzy74601) | 1 comments Hi I am new to this group but wanted to say KA is awesome. Her books are amazing and great reads for a great price. Knight was a good book if you are into the fifty books. Reaper's Property was also a good read if your into motorcycles.

message 34: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 48 comments oooh, okay, okay. I'd have to say Sylvia Day, Kristen Ashley, R.K. Lilley, Teresa Mummert , and Jamie McGuire.

RK Lilley does the "In Flight" (Up In The Air, #1) series. These kind of remind me of Sylvia Day's Crossfire series.

and Teresa Mummert does the "Honor Student" (Honor, #1)series. She falls in love with her college professor.

Very alpha men, both contain bdsm. btw.

message 39: by Eleighna (new)

Eleighna | 42 comments Kristen Ashley is my #1 author. I always compare the alpha males written by other author's to hers. often times instead of reading one of the new releases I re-read a Kristen Ashley book instead.

Anne (anneofnorfolk) es instead of reading one of the new releases I re-read a Kristen Ashley book instead."

Me too! I'd rather reread Kristin Ashley than just settle for less if there are no good new releases out there! Have only read Rock Chick series, Colorado Mtn series and Dream Man series. Not a historical or paranormal fan. Always on the lookout for great new stuff though, but I'm a book-a-day reader so it can get expensive!

Charlie (charlieridley) | 14 comments Pepper Winters writes very dark, dengerous (and often tortured) heroes. I adore her books. Skye Warren and Kitty Thomas are another two go-to authors for me when it comes to dangerous heroes.
