Phil wrote: "But jism didn't make the list."

Yeah, as a word, I don't see how it's worse than any other ism. Communism, fascism, liberalism.

Kenneth P. (kennethp) The most disgusting word is the most overused word.

I am literally tired of hearing the word literally.

Literally!

Cheri | 795 comments Basically, it's true. Literately, it makes me want to kill the person talking. I mean, you know? OK. Whatever.

I hate the word MOMS when used journalistically. I will not click on any story with MOMS in the headline. IT IS SLANG. Use the proper term: MOTHERS.

It gives me HIVES.

message 32: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
yes, but the word "discharge" is unpleasant.

As is charge, now that I think of it.

Wart. Warts.

message 35: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Meh. Gross in an onomatopoeic sense but the word it self is not that bad.

message 36: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
Especially if you're German where warten just means to wait.

message 37: by Sally, la reina (last edited Jul 27, 2012 07:32AM) (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Hm.

Führer /ˈfjʊərər/is pretty gross.

message 38: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
Oh come now.

It just means leader in German.

message 39: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Lg, the way it makes my mouth feel as it is on its way out is what is gross. Isn't that the point of this thread?

Or are we talking about the image the word evokes? Because I've been playing this game wrong, if so.

Sally wrote: "Lg, the way it makes my mouth feel as it is on its way out is what is gross. Isn't that the point of this thread? "

Yes, that is an acceptable way to think of it.

We are not talking about the image a word evokes. Just the word at its most basic level, an agglomeration of letters.

message 41: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
So "Führer" is gross.

Say it is so.

message 42: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24778 comments Mod
Is it the umlaut that disturbs you?

message 43: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
No. The sound in my mouth as the word comes out.

Am I being unclear?

message 44: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Maybe you're saying it wrong.

message 45: by Félix (new)
