Danielle Hartshorn (dhartshorn) Just finished a romance novel (will omit title so as not to offend anyone), and just started 'The Night Circus.'

M I have just read "The Hunger Games", and I loved it! I definitely recommend it to everyone :)
Now I'm not sure what to read, I'll go to library and find some good book.

Heather McCorkle (heathermccorkle) | 68 comments I just finished Breathkept by Saundra Mitchell and loved it. Her writing is so beautiful it's almost lyrical at times. I highly recommend anything by her.

Right now I'm reading an ARC (advanced reader's copy) of Transcend by Christine Fonseca. It is a Phantom of the Opera inspired psychological thriller that is nothing short of brilliant.

Breathkept by Saundra Mitchell Transcend by Christine Fonseca

I loved that book too! Such an honest look at the future and at what humans could fall to if they aren't careful.

Barnyard ISF (barnyardisf) | 121 comments I was reading Diana Gabaldon's 3rd book of the Outlander series Voyager. I really liked the first book, but the series hasn't held me like Jack Whyte's Camulod Chronicles starting with The Skystone. I guess Jack Whyte's series is much more from the male perspective compared to Diana's which is very much female. Though, I am in complete love with Jack Whyte's books, so I really shouldn't compare.

I just know, now that I am reading Kim Falconer's The Path of the Stray I can't put the book down, while before the Book Club I was having a hard time to convince myself to read since I would most likely fall asleep too quickly. With Path of the Stray I have to make myself put it down to make sure I get enough sleep! Plus it goes to work with me in case of an extra moment in the car. =)
Thanks Kim!!!

I loved Divergent and Tobias is totally swoon worthy

Precious Diane Aquino | 11 comments It's a dystopian novel just like The Hunger Games. But the plot completely different.
Set in Chicago, society is divided into 5 factions - 6 counting those without factions. When one reaches the age of 16, one is given a choice to stay in your faction or leave and go to another one.

Think of factions like school stereotypes - geeks, jocks etc...

It follows the story of Beatrice who makes a decision that surprises her and everyone and her life after that choice. Along the way she learns of secrets which might have been better left unknown.

message 18: by Jeanie (new)

Jeanie (birdyseeds) I just finished a series of books that has caused a great deal of chatter in ISville, lately. When I first downloaded them I thought they were YA fare. (repeatedly banging head on table). Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on one's viewpoint I suppose, I haven't been a young adult since George senior left office. (laughing). I will say that if you're gonna read Ms. James's series, you should read all three. The first one on its own is kinda painful (no pun intended). In order to not let negativity creep in, here, I won't go into the writing abilities of the author, but I will say that the most compelling feature of the books is the characterization of Christian Grey. He's neither a villian, an anti-villian, a hero, or an anti-hero, but seems to possess all four protagonistic aspects, which is, dare I say it, fairly original!

I can relate to you there! My first impression of 50 was that it was a young adult book. Imagine the shock i felt when i got halfway through it hahaha. But i still loved it! the first book's ending was harsh. It made me read the nex tone immediately.

(laughing) I did exactly the same thing. I could not bear the ending of the first one, so I downloaded the next two immediately. I listened to the audiobooks, which, of course, is an extremely embarassing experience (or, at least, it is for me) when the book contains any sexual content. I listen to my books on my iphone with earbuds and my husband claims I kept blurting out loud "oh, no, no, no!! what are you guys? rabbits??"

Rabbits? HAHAHAHA. I don't I would have been able to handle an audio book of 50. When i was reading the book about halfway through it i found myself with a what-the-hell-look plastered on my face and my hands slowly shying the book away from me.

I thought of the faction as similar to the houses at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series, instead of cliques at a high school, as they have to do with certain strengths and virtues. Divergent (and Insurgent!) was awesome!

who is your fav character/actor/person??

message 43: by Danielle (new)

Danielle Hartshorn (dhartshorn) I like the darkness of Damon, and I'm not just saying that because of Ian Somerhalder lol. I've only watched the first three episodes, but I can already pick up a sense of sadness about him. But I had a nightmare about vampires last night, so I really shouldn't watch it before bed. Perhaps I should switch my routine and read before bed and watch tv in the morning :-)

Precious Diane Aquino | 11 comments Tessa wrote: "Precious Diane wrote: "It's a dystopian novel just like The Hunger Games. But the plot completely different.

School stereotypes were the first thing to come to my mind. You know how nerds are into studying and jocks are all athletic and stuff HAHAHA. I'm currently reading the HP series. The movies didn't really go into details about the personalities about the houses - just that slytherin probably is the worst there is. HAHAHA.

message 45: by Kate (new)

Kate (innatelykate) I just finished Ape House by Sara Gruen and it was pretty good. It was a little predictable at times but I still really enjoyed the novel. I am a veterinary technician and I plan on going to veterinary school in the near future so a book about animal care and behavior was right up my alley. I enjoyed it but some readers may be offended by some of the animal care descriptions and some descriptions of Bonobo behavior may also be off-putting for some readers.

As a therapist, it is hard not to psychoanalyze characters that you see in movies and shows. I agree with your statement about the "sadness" in Ian's character Damon. I think we all have aspect of Damon within ourselves although we mainly keep them in check whereas Damon is blatant about it. Ian does a tremendous job of balancing Damon's character to where you hate him at times and love him in others. I'll tell you this, whoever wrote the script knows the balance between behavior and mental health!

lol. I once had a dream that a "bad" vampire was outside my window and trying to get in but then my mom comes and finds him there and I get in trouble for having a boy trying to climb in through my window:D Damon is sooo self reserved ad contained some of the time and soo playful at other times.:D He is soo caring though. he ....... I dont know how to describe how he is. But in real life based on what he has done I think he is very caring.. and good to his word.:D

I know what you mean... And while you watch the show, you'll see that sadness even more, there's so much of it in him. He's always hiding what he really feels and he's always like "I don't care", but in the end he does care, and he usually just kinds snaps and kills someone because he hides it all in himself.

I knew, from comments that I heard/read, what "Fifty.." was about, but I decided to download it to my Kindle. Although Ian Somerhalder is a very kind man, I believe that, as the excellent actor he is, he could handle the role with ease. I would not watch the movie, if he wasn't in it.
