Dee (austhokie) | 652 comments Sorry for the late posting guys

The July Author of the Month by a significant margin is Michael Ridpath

So what are you going to be reading this month?

message 2: by Susan (new)

Susan (susanthomas) I'm going to read 66 North, which I'm still waiting for in the mail. I'm looking forward to it, having recently read his Where the Shadows Lie. Good strong lead character, interesting plot development.

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments How did you get 66 North, Susan??? Did you order it from the UK??

message 4: by Susan (new)

Susan (susanthomas) I got it through Amazon here in the US, through a vendor called 'the book depository.' Not sure where it's located, since it seems to actually be affiliated with Amazon, but it's in the US. With shipping it was $12.

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments I will have to take a deeper look. thx.

message 6: by Dee, the Insanity Check (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 652 comments there is a book depository in the UK as well - I use them for books that I can't easily get in the US

message 7: by Lili (last edited Jul 09, 2012 12:29PM) (new)

Lili | 28 comments So pleased you've chosen Michael Ridpath's books. I've read all 3 in The Fire & Ice Series and there is also a short story he has written that also involves Magnus. All of them are well worth reading, but read them in order. Michael tells me he is now writing the 4th. Can't wait.

message 8: by Lili (new)

Lili | 28 comments The Fire and Ice books were written in this order;
1 Where Shadows Lie
2 66 North but will be called Far North in the US.
3 Meltwater
+ The short story is titled Edge of Nowhere

message 9: by Florence (new)

Florence Wetzel (florencewetzel) Just ordered Far North from the library; I read Where the Shadows Lie last month, and I think this has the makings of a great series.

message 10: by Joy (new)

Joy (jlangt) | 5 comments I just picked up Where Shadows Lie. I can't wait to read it :) I've been following the author of the month posts, but not getting the books until the month after, so being able to do this at the same time will be a real treat!

message 11: by Michael (new)

Michael Ridpath | 6 comments Hi, it's the author here. Please ask me any questions you like. And also difficult questions or crticisms are fine too - I don't want to inhibit discussion.

The US and the UK (including the rest of the English speaking world) are on different publishing schedules, which is frustrating, but Lili's post above has got the books all sorted out.

When you read Free To Trade, let me know what you think. It was one of my earlier financial thrillers, and I'm thinking of rereleasing it on Kindle.

message 19: by Naomi, the Sanity Check (new)

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments Sure will...the library had both of them.

message 20: by Naomi, the Sanity Check (new)

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments I am finishing up Michael's novel Free to Trade. Although it is an oldie and not a NN book, I enjoyed it. It is a financial thriller and I don't have the chance to read alot of them.

I would re-release it, Michael.

message 21: by Michael (new)

Michael Ridpath | 6 comments Thanks, Naomi. I will.

message 22: by Diane S ☔ (new)

Diane S ☔ Finally snagged a copy of 66 North which I hope to read soon. Did read Where the Shadows Lie and liked it alot.

message 23: by Naomi, the Sanity Check (new)

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments I noticed my library has Far North so Pat is picking it up today for me.

message 24: by Michael (new)

Michael Ridpath | 6 comments Great! That was quick. It's only been out a week or so.

message 25: by Naomi, the Sanity Check (new)

Naomi (nblackburn) | 932 comments I finished Far North about a week ago. Although the writing was still classic Michael..I didn't love the storyline as much. I think I finished WtSL in 2 days and this one took me a little longer. 3.5 stars from me and full review is in the works. I start I am going to read Meltwater next week.

I am always on top of them. Normally I put my list out and I get the books first. I did notice that it has numerous holds on it at this point, so it is a good thing I got it first! ;)
