GateGypsy | 126 comments Random Passage by Bernice Morgan (and it's sequel Waiting for Time) which was made into a CBC miniseries!

GateGypsy | 126 comments Also, Barnacle Love by Anthony De Sa. It isn't *all* set in Newfoundland, but part of it is!

Autumn This Rock within the Sea (Mowat's first book, with lots of love for The Rock)
The Boat Who Wouldn't Float (a bit less love from Mowat).
And finally...A Whale for the Killing. I haven't read the third one yet, but hear that it is Mowat at his most disenchanted.

This was one of my favourite reads last year. The characters were so endearing. But I suggested to it a friend of mine and she abandoned it. Go figure! :)

Annabel is set in Labrador. I'd categorize it as literary fiction.

Michael (mike999) The Bird Artist by Howard Norman is a special tale of growing up in a lighthouse keeper family.

I might have to check that out, Laurie. I love historical fiction. Do you like The River Thieves so far?

Hi Melissa, I am enjoying the book. The author really brings the people and the place to life in the book, I am sure the fact that he is also from Newfoundland helps.
