Janice (jamasc) Alone in the Classroom could also be read as set in Ontario

If you're interested in reading historical children's fiction set in Saskatchewan, Adeline's Dream might be a good choice.

message 4: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) The author also lives in Saskatchewan.

For some reason your link isn't working. The Englishman's Boy: A Novel

Hmm, that's weird. Well, both links seem to be working now. Maybe it was some kind of bug that got resolved fairly quickly. I know Goodreads has, or maybe by this point had, a bug with the bookshelves.

Janice (jamasc) Glad to hear that the links are working. :)

That sounds like it's right up my alley, GateGypsy. Thanks for mentioning it.

I read this book a number of years ago and still think about it from time to time. If you want the feel of the setting, this book will certainly give you that.

Michael (mike999) I confirm Melissa's suggestion on Richard Ford's Canada is a good read. U.S. author with some settings in Saskatchewan.

Michael (mike999) The Dog Who Wouldn't Be is a delightful memoir of Farley Mowatt's boyhood in Saskatchewan. The feats of his dog approach tall tales in terms of believability. Very funny.

Jessica Kluthe (jessica_kluthe) | 13 comments A great prairie memoir is Small Beneath The Sky. Has anyone else read it?

Janice (jamasc) I just learned of another book set in Saskatchewan, Devotion.
