Janice (jamasc) Mrs. Mike (setting)

Please note... this book is not set in the NWT's. I'm not sure where I got the impression it was. But it is primarily set in Alberta. For a short part of the book, it was set in Hudson Hope, BC.

GateGypsy | 126 comments I just spotted The Mad Trapper in the Saskatchewan list (author from Sask), but figured I should add it here, too, because the RCMP chase was through the Yukon and Northwest Territories.

Since the goodreads page for this book doesn't have much info, I figured I'd copy this in from the author's page...

A collection of short stories: An isolated mining community like Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, attracts its share of dreamers and schemers. While some are satisfied to search for gold or diamonds, others end up pursuing more unexpected goals. The Ugly Truck and Dog Contest and Other Tales of Northern Life drops you into in the quirky world of Canada’s northern frontier and acquaints you with some of its more colourful citizens as they chase these rewards. You’ll meet a woman desperate to prove her northern identity by winning the aforementioned contest. A veteran prospector who’s maintained his competitive edge in a surprising way. A young lawyer seeking redemption for his indiscretions on the city’s all-sand golf course. They tackle it all with spirit, humour and the occasional touch of magic.

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 27 comments I'm adding Karin Lowachee's book The Gaslight Dogs to two northern territories, because technically it is a steampunk novel based on the Inuit but not quite. I know some of us look for books that are slightly different for challenges like this, and this would fall under the speculative fiction category.
