Nicholas (dexkilo) | 87 comments OK.. I'm officially obsessed with this song:

Hollie Cook - Milk & Honey

Hey,
you should try (you should try)
the milk and rice
with just a bit of honey

Post your current or old favorites here. If nobody else follows suit, I'll just amuse myself by posting more chunes.

When the track first came on, I wasn't sure I'd like it. But the hook brought some of that cool warm/fuzzy/distorted/wobbly bass, and I'm always down for that.

It's been a year now, and I'm still obsessed."

Massive Attack always brings the ruckus. I hadn't heard this mix before, so thanks for sharing it.

Although my ganja-smoking days are mostly behind me, this song kills me every time:

Soom T & Disrupt - Weed is Sweeter

Nicholas (dexkilo) | 87 comments Anna wrote: "Apocalyptica - Beautiful"

That's pretty epic. Of course I should expect as much from a group named Apocalyptica.

Here's another track that is similarly epic in scale, but vastly different in style:

Turbulence - Nah Sell Out

This used to be on my 'chilled' playlist.

Red Snapper - The Sleepless"

Ah yes.. the chilled playlist. That one would've fit right in for me. Are you a dnb/jungle fan, by any chance?

Ricky Tuff vs. Ras Mac Bean - Brighter Days

In a similar vein, I really like the theme from the Misfits TV series, which they're now airing in the US:

The Rapture - Echoes

When I first heard this I thought it was Gang of Four, or at least a couple members thereof. I loved the first two series of Misfits, but lost interest after Robert Sheehan left. Did you stick with it through series 3?

message 12: by Nicholas (new)

Nicholas (dexkilo) | 87 comments ^ I'm actually watching the first series for the first time, though I've heard from others that it falls off a bit with series 3. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Nicholas (dexkilo) | 87 comments Casanova - World War 3

‎"But sure I sound conceited, like a rap figure get
I feel like smokin' and you're lookin' like a cigarette
You wouldn't calm me down even if I did smoke
I think you're funny, but not the funny like a joke
I think you're funny like the funny as in Little Richard
You're even more of a sucka than I pictured"

I'm still obsessed with this one by 2NE1 (my favourite K-Pop group). Even taught myself some of the Korean lyrics so I can sing along.
I Love You - 2NE1

Matt Jarvis I can't stop playing Ernest Ranglin - Bourbon Street Skank lately. He plays this lovely reggae/jazz hybrid sound, it makes me long for sunny days and cold drinks! <3

Damn, I didn't even know we had a Music thread.

Leadbelly, of course, has been covered by, almost literally, everyone (after all, he wrote Goodnight Irene - perhaps the only more covered song would be Burns' Auld Lang Syne). Best: Long John Baldry. Black Girl is a cover of In the pines (actually, I thought Leadbelly called it Black Girl, too. Nirvana called it Where Did You Sleep Last Night). Baldry's last solo album was a tribute to Leadbelly: Remembering Leadbelly.

Everybody should listen to Long John Baldry!

Derek (derek_broughton) | 796 comments On heavy rotation (not that anything rotates any more) at home, tend to be Adele's 21, Harry Manx Bread and Buddha, and Genesis Trick of the Tail. Yes, I confess to being an old prog-rocker.

And the answer is, "not much". I downloaded "Spirit of Eden", listened to it once, and deleted it. "Mostly boring, with unintelligible lyrics." I don't mind _weird_ lyrics, but I've got to be able to make them out.

This is my current cooking prep song:
Tristen - "Inaction"
I love this chick's voice. She sounds like modern-day Judith Durham (The Seekers). I shouldn't like that, but I do. Impossible not to sing along.

"Bass Nacho" is clearly the best handle ever, hands down. No other entries will be accepted.

They probably lasted longer in Australia!

I've personally bought more than one Seekers album - whenever stuck for a present for my mother, it was always a safe choice.

Karen (escapeartist) | 167 comments This is a tough call but for singles I will go with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FprQA1... -Cabin 14 by Gamalon which is early jazz rock fusion and my all time favorite car song - No Time to Lose by Tarney Spencer Band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHzhgj...

LOL - they're more or less still going here. They did that many "final concerts" and "reunions"!

Derek (derek_broughton) | 796 comments Ah. Like The Who. I was at their first final concert. Then they put on a second "final" concert the next night, and proceeded to do final concerts for years.

I wonder when the last time was that anybody compared The Seekers and The Who.

I assume you mean Byron - he was pretty much drinking himself to death when the band was formed. But according to Wikipedia, who knows all, Mick Box is still with the band - and he is not only original, it was _his_ band.

I love the Heep. I still have my old UH albums (and, for unknown reasons two copies of Abominog which wasn't even that good).
