Michael (knowledgelost) Now is a good time to get the ball rolling and call for nominations both for the recent (within 5 years) and older (10+ years) for the suspense group read.

When nominations close we will have a poll to pick the groups next books.

Toby (tfitoby) Can somebody define suspense for me? Or provide some examples of popular books in the genre?

EDIT: I've just seen the Top 10 suspense author list, colour me red.

Mish | 270 comments I can't find an older one to nominate as yet but for my recent one I nominate In The Woods

Well there you go...I didn't realize it's true crime! Michael???

message 9: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) You may have to wait for the crime reads

Ok have taken it away, and will think on it:)

message 11: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Because I think everyone should read them, I'll nominate Gone Girl for the recent release and for the older one; Rebecca

I have re-added my older nomination:)

Maggie Good choices Michael, but if we can't have In Cold Blood can we have my other suggestion The Chatham School Affair for the older book? It sounds like a great suspense book (and I have it on my shelf!)..

Definitely fits Maggie...originally published 1996!

This does sound good Maggie :) I've added it to my tbr

Do you have a suggestion for a recent release one?

message 16: by Toby (new)

Toby (tfitoby) I suggest something from Graham Greene for the classic, perhaps Our Man in Havana or A Gun for Sale. Maybe The One from the Other, the point at which Philip Kerr rebooted his Bernie Gunther series, for the modern one?

Great I'm glad it's a good one :) I've listed it down as an older nomination because it said it was first published in 1996 - is that okay?

Yes Mish, that's definitely fine:)

message 21: by Maggie (new)

Maggie Mish, I'm happy to go with KL's suggestion of Gone Girl for the recent release.

message 22: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) I think we have hit a stalemate, so I'm closing the nominations and starting the polls.
