Nicole | 406 comments Ok...so I drive myself crazy with that nasty habit of having to look just a few pages (...or chapters) ahead when I'm reading!!
Does anyone else do the same?
Does it bother anyone else? or do you prefer to know where the story's going before you get there?

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this tricky dilemma...everyone's different!! :D

I don't read ahead and it drives me insane when others do! ;D

message 3: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 406 comments It drives me insane when I do!!!! I've finally figured out that when I start to read ahead, that means I need to take a break...I just need to stop my looking ahead and put the book down!! :)

I SKIP TO THE END AND RUIN IT FOR MYSELF!! I just have to know the ending... Even though in many cases I know it will be a happy ending...

message 14: by Nicole (last edited Aug 02, 2012 12:48PM) (new)

Nicole | 406 comments Haha! thats funny, Soph! yeah...I guess you can always count on it being happy in the end. I have read several books that surprised me, though! "I did NOT see that coming..."

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Ugh, I do it ALL the time. Then I get mad at myself for ruining the book.

message 16: by Aerykah (new)

Aerykah | 2071 comments I used to do that, but forced myself to stop when I realized that I had almost completely stopped reading books all the way through. You miss so much when you skip ahead!
I'm proud to say that I haven't skipped ahead in about 2-3 years --- except in a couple books that were so boring I just wanted to see how the story ended & get it over with.

message 17: by Sam (new)

Sam (Readlovelaughlive) | 114 comments I only read ahead when I'm utterly bored with the book... So I read ahead if it's a bad book :P

message 21: by A. (new)

A. (ahartleyscribbles) | 55 comments I usually don't. Even if I'm dying to. There have been a few times when I'm really bored with what's going on and I have peaked ahead to get myself interested, though.

Caity | 4434 comments Mod
yea me too. if I'm thinking of not finishing it I'll look and find something exciting n such and if it excites me I'll keep reading. lol but never the end!

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been doing much better lately. :D Haven't read ahead in a long time, although I have been tempted to. ;)

Nicole | 406 comments Haha! Soph...I can picture you peeking around the edges of your book's pages to get a glimpse of the story's ending! ;D

Sophie | 2550 comments Mod
That's what I do!!! Even if I know the ending is happy!! It's annoying. Literally just done it with another book! Cant stop myself!

I know. It's so annoying!!

message 32: by Ciara (new)

Ciara | 37 comments No, I now restrain myself :D I used to tend to do that, but eventually I realised it just took the whole adventure out of the story.
Now I try my best not to read any other part of the book other than the page that I'm on. :)

message 33: by Sophie, The Romantic Moderator :) (new)

Sophie | 2550 comments Mod
Does anyone find if it is a really exciting part or something you start reading far to quickly as skimming down the page?!? I do!! I have to look away from the book and try and go back and constrain myself ;)

Caity | 4434 comments Mod

A. (ahartleyscribbles) | 55 comments I know! I try to stop myself though. Sometimes I'll just catch myself doing it when I haven't even realized it yet.

message 40: by Sophie, The Romantic Moderator :) (new)

Sophie | 2550 comments Mod

message 41: by Nicole (new)

I just gave in to this bad habit, and to the worst degree! Just skim read quickly (but surprisingly thoroughly!) through the rest of the book I am currently reading (and I was not even quite half way yet!)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book NOOOOOOO!!! Don't do it!! ;-)

Nope I don't read ahead. But I had a friend in High School who had to read the last page or couple of pages in every book she read before she read started reading from the start of the book. Drove me crazy! But probably only because she'd be a pain about how she knew how it ended (neener neener neener lol)

message 47: by Sophie, The Romantic Moderator :) (new)

Sophie | 2550 comments Mod
I regret it as soon as I've done it!!

Ok. Next book I will NOT do it!!
