Genia | 20 comments Wat do you do when you just finished an awesome series and you can't get into anything new ?

Edva Lotan (edvalotan) | 12 comments Oh, I know this problem. I usually start something very different, so that I can enjoy it while still thinking about the previous one.

First of all - which series are we talking about ?

Let it sink for a day or two. Just pick something light (and different) and start reading it.

You reminded me of one of my favourite passages from The Thirteenth Tale:

“All morning I struggled with the sensation of stray wisps of one world seeping through the cracks of another. Do you know the feeling when you start reading a new book before the membrane of the last one has had time to close behind you? You leave the previous book with ideas and themes -- characters even -- caught in the fibers of your clothes, and when you open the new book, they are still with you.”

I agree that the best thing to do is start on a very different kind of book, preferable in another genre. I often like to read a non-fiction book after reading a really good fantasy.

So I'm also waiting to hear which series it was that you loved so much.

Do you mean has the book been translated into Hebrew? If so, I really have no idea. I had actually listened to the audio book, which was really fantastic. I think I paid more attention to the beautiful writing as a listener than I would have as a reader.

As for the Fever books, I had read those as well. For me it was a really strange experience because I strongly disliked all of the characters and was irritated by the author's writing style, which was very repetitive, but something about the story kept pulling me forward so that I read the entire series even though I didn't feel like I really wanted to. That's never happened to me before but there was just something really compelling about the story that pushed me to keep reading until I finished it all.
