That is adorable, the thing Kevin said. Honestly, I adore Kevin Zegers...At first, I wasn't too sure in him playing Alec because he's kind of old for Alec (who is supposed to be 18-Kevin is 28) but now I am actually really excited to see him as Alec. I love all the cast actually except for Jamie Bower playing Jace...

Kevin looks the most oldest amongst the young cast, second will be the girl playing Isabella, oh well, i guess they have to use a lot of Hollywood CGI magic to make him young looking, and if his acting is good then it work out i guess. On the other hand Godfrey aka Magnus is very yummy, and Kevin/Alec is lucky to snuggle the sexiest High Warlock ever walk the earth, woott. xD
Kevin is Canadian so that means he's amazing same with Godfrey

Actually all the young actors are much older than the characters in the book, with Lily being the youngest, at 24 playing a 16 year old girl. I was kinda bummed at that, why did they use much older actors for ALL of them?Cute tidbit though that Godfrey and Kevin are both canadians and born a couple of days apart, same year... damn that country seems like a nursery for hotness
Ever since I found out Kevin is playing Alec, I've been trying to watch everything he's been in. I sooooo can't wait to see him play Alec. I think he's going to be amazing. He's actually my favorite character casting, other than Magnus.
OMG I love Kevin Zegers playing Alec, he looks perfect for the part. Finally there are Canadians in YA movies I would want to watch.
I'm sure Kevin will do a great job, but the hairdo isn't really doing it for me. That isn't his fault though! It's just too... Styled and slick for Alec? And besides, why do all gay men have to have their hair slicked like that nowadays in film? Alec is a character close to my heart, and if this is the only complaint I have of his portrayal thus far, I guess I should be thankful!

I haven't seen the movie but i have seen clips, and I love him as Alec
Kevin was actually one of the first actors approached to play Alec but his schedule didn’t work with the filming originally so they went with someone else; then the scheduling changed once again and it didn’t work for Alec Mark Two, but did work for Kevin. Such are the vagaries of casting. One of the things I really liked about Kevin was that one of Alec’s audition scenes was the scene where Alec shouts at Clary in City of Bones and tells her she endangered Jace’s life. And a lot of the actors who auditioned played it yelling and really mean so you just thought, boy, Alec. What a jerk that guy is. Kevin played it with a quiet sort of intensity that grew through the scene so you could see through the cracks of the anger and think: wow, this guy is really scared and vulnerable. Because that is the Alec people love. Also he will not have to wear contacts to get Alec’s baby blues because he already has them. Which is just a fortunate plus.
What does everyone else think? I think he makes a good Alec, just make his hair darker, shabbier clothes....any thoughts?
