I'm so scared of heights that it's sometimes hard for me to watch things like this. I've had nightmares before where I'm in a car balanced on a flag pole atop a tall building, and I have to shut my eyes during scenes like the one in True Lies when Arnold Swarzenneger jumps between two skyscrapers while on a horse. I'm feeling faint just thinking about it now.
Have you ever seen any documentaries on The Flying Wallendas? The elderly Karl Wallenda fell to his death in the seventies when the wind blew him off a wire. It's caught on tape and is just horrifying to watch.
No, but I'll check that out. I loved Satie's piano pieces that they played during Petite's walk across the wire that I bought the sheet music to play. Petit, the man who walked across the twin towers, said he gets scared before and after a walk but never during the walk...amazing concentration.

Weird I just added Man on a Wire prior to checking in. The Flying Wallendas was a really good documentary although I saw it years ago.

I suffer from vertigo, and was white-knuckled while watching the last half of the film. I had to look away many times when pictures of Petite and his friends were shown standing or sitting on the ledge of the World Trade Center.
I thought Petite and Annie had a wonderful relationship. Anyone else sad to see that it ended and surprised at when it ended?
Just incredible.
I agree..incredible..even liked his appearance on the academy awards. He truly is a one of a kind individual.
