Anyone else sense similarities between the town and Stephen King's Derry? I think it was when they were hiding down the storm drain that it hit me."
Ooh yes, good spot! Stephen King freely admits that Ray Bradbury was a huge influence on him, so it's not suprising I suppose. There's a similarity in the way they write about childhood too, and how it feels to be a twelve-year-old boy, running free and getting up to no good.
I loved this book -Ray Bradbury's imagination is incredible.

I loved this, too. The writing style was what really hooked me -- it's so beautiful, and flows so well, that I never wanted to stop reading.
I noticed the similarities to Stephen King, toom but I was sort of expecting it, given that Bradbury was a huge influence on him. I think they're two authors who write about childhood and fear really well. It was comforting that there was at least one adult who wasn't clueless in Something Wicked, though. Will's dad became one of my favourite characters quite quickly -- he wasn't what I expected at all.
I think I loved this most because I'm someone who finds circuses and carnivals pretty creepy at the best of times It really was like all my suspicions had come to life. It's reassuring to have heard that I'm not the only one who screamed on a carousel when I was little :)

Wow, that wasn't what I was expecting. I wasn't convinced to start off with but by the end I was fascinated, some of the carnival characters were spine tingling - I was quite surprised to read it was turned into a Disney film, I might have to watch that.
I loved the way the realtionship between jim and will was written.
I've not read a huge amount of Stephen King but now you mention it I can see some similarities.

Thanks guys - seems like we all enjoyed it. I know it will stay with me and I'll reread it. Anyone else read it?
