I've decided to try posting nominations and poll earlier to give people more time to consider and acquire the winning book. Hopefully, this will encourage more participation.

If you nominated a book for any previous month, please feel free to nominate it for October.

The nomination period will end and the poll will go up on the 31st of August.

Eligible are

1)Any Challenge book that already has a discussion thread in the group forum.

OR

2) Any fiction or non-fiction book written by a Canadian, set in Canada, or about Canada that is not on the Challenge list (i.e. the canlit-challenge group bookshelf).

If you have any comments or suggestions about how to get more people participating, please don't hesitate to let me know.

TamElaine I'm Tammy, VERY new to the group, so I hope it's okay to jump right in....I was so excited to find this group and after exploring your bookshelf and not seeing Richard Wagamese as one of the authors you've read yet (although I've been known to look at something and not see it, so I apologize if I've missed it), I'd like to introduce you to one of my very favourite authors - I'd love to nominate Keeper'n Me by Richard Wagamese - one of his older books....I just recently saw a college student reading this book on the bus and had to discuss it with her - she said she was reading it as part of her Canadian literature studies ! I was so happy to hear that ! I've read it already, but at the thought of having the chance to discuss with others, I'd be only too happy to read it again....

I was going to ask if you've read Indian Horse but then reasoned you probably had. That book was my introduction to Richard Wagamese's writing and what a powerful intro! I'd happily read another by him.

It's great that you're jumping right in, Tammy! You're right, I've not read anything by Richard Wagamese.
