Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11205 comments The Fall Challenge 2012 will begin on September 1, 2012 and will end at midnight (EST) on November 30, 2012.

If you have a general question about the Fall 2012 Challenge, please ask here.

The Seasonal Reading Challenge Overview may answer some questions about the challenge process and where things are located in the group discussions.

Ashley FL | 721 comments This is probably not specifically related to this Challenge, but I can't find it addressed anywhere, so hopefully this is the correct place to ask this!!

I find myself in the odd position of reading the same book twice in the time-frame of the Fall Challenge. It is non-fiction, and part of reading it is to re-read each chapter. So it really will be two complete reads.

Can I count this book twice? (i.e. in two different tasks) I know that re-reads are generally ok (unless not allowed in the specific task), but in the same Challenge??

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3040 comments Only one book can be claimed for one task. Yes rereads are allowed but only one book can be claimed for one task.

Ashley FL | 721 comments Right, but if a book fits two different tasks and is read twice, can it be claimed twice. For example (and I am making this up), I read book "ABC". "ABC" could be used for either Task 5.5 or Task 10.2. If I read "ABC" twice during the same Challenge, can I claim it for both Task 5.5 (the first time I read it) and Task 10.2 (the second time I read it). Does that make sense?

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 891 comments When I read the rules that one book can be claimed per task, Ashley, I read that to mean that in 1 challenge that book can only be counted once. If you re-read it in the Winter Challenge, then you could count it again but not in the same challenge.

Rule 7 in the Rules of the Challenge thread (effective Summer 2012) is where this addressed.
Each book must be read completely and can be counted only once per challenge.
All elements of books separated into multiple audio or paperback parts (often identified as “Part 1”, “Part 2”, etc.) must be read. Individual chapters of a book or unfinished serialized books (released by chapter) cannot be used.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3040 comments If the book is read twice in the same challenge, it can only be counted for either 5.5 or 5.10 but not both. (to use your example)

The way I understand it is you can't use the same book for two tasks, even if you re-read it. If you read a book and use it for task 5.5 you CAN'T re-read it for task 5.10. Now when the next challenge comes up for winter you could re-read it for that challenge.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3040 comments That's correct if the book fits any of the tasks in the new challenge.

Stacie (shorty_320) | 1335 comments I know that the Babysitter's Club series is considered a "Young Reader's Book." However, there is also a graphic novel series based on those books (Kristy's Great Idea: A Graphic Novel). Are those also considered "Young Reader's Books?"
