Okay folks, the Hunger Games DVD just came out. Who's seen it and what did you think? Did it live up to the book?

Melanie | 212 comments I thoughty they did a good job with the movie adapation. However, I'm sure that it helped with Suzanne Collins being invovled with the movie.

I really liked the movie and even took my son (9 yrs) who loved it too. Still think the book was more compelling. I just couldn't put it down.

Melanie | 212 comments In very few instances will the movie be better than the book. Julie and Julia by Julie Powell is one that the movie is so much better than the book. In someways the movie to The Help might be better for the simple fact it is true to the book and moves faster. It took me longer to get through it than I had thought - maybe because I was reading with a Southern accent.

Kara (kaengamom) | 19 comments It was a really good adaptation, but I didn't like the way the movie was shot. It had that whole shaky cam thing going on and I couldn't see any of the fight scenes very well. Really hoping they don't do that for Catching Fire.

The one thing I did not like about the movie was that I thought they breezed over the whole idea of how the districts loathed the capital and the games. They had a quick propaganda film about the uprising and a conversation between Gale and Katniss, but overall I didn't feel like there was much of a dystopian society portrayed.
