Ellese (faithfulumbrella) | 33 comments Although I prefer real books, I do have a Kindle Fire...I wanted one for Christmas sooo...

I use it mostly for anthology type books and free books and such... :)

message 2: by Arina (new)

Arina Floriana | 3 comments Kindle. The fact that whatever I want to read it's right there, at the touch of a button, has really made me a book junkie. The thing is practically glued to my fingers. :))

Rachel the Book Harlot | 88 comments I have a Kindle Fire.

Me too. :)

Jessica Yvonne (jessiyvonne) | 12 comments I love my Nook!! My boyfriend bought it as a gift and I can easily sideload my own books into it.

message 5: by Ruby (new)

Ruby Chua (rubychua) iPad for me....

message 6: by Anik (new)

Anik | 7 comments Acer A500 mostly. Also GS2

I love physical books, but I'be been using a Kindle Fire and I love it. The selection of free& cheap books is most appealing. I want to get one of my own, but I'm really hoping it'll go 3G like the other kindle. If not I have a decision to make.....tough.

David Merrill | 11 comments I just bought my first e-reader. I didn't want a Kindle because of the advertising. Playing with the Nook at B&N I wasn't thrilled with it. I wanted something Mac compatible but not an iPad because of the Chinese factory issues and price point.

So, I ended up with the Aluratek Libre Pro for $38. I've had it two weeks now, read 4 books on it and it is great. I discovered I read faster on an e-reader, not sure why. It turned out to be perfect because I just resurrected the Ballantine Adult Fantasy group here on goodreads and half of those books are public domain. It came preloaded with 100 Classics and I've probably downloaded over 200 other books already.

message 9: by Richard (new)

Richard Sutton (richardsutton) Like Erica, abgove, I never really wanted an eReader. I'm pretty old-school, but when I got an offer to get a Nook Touch bundles with a year's subscription to the NY Times (which I received in paper, at the time), I said OK. I was absolutely hooked after the first book. I even caught myself "swiping" my finger right to left at the bottom of a paper page! I traded the Nook Touch for the new color Nook Tablet, and I couldn't be happier. It no longer has any exterior buttons except for the power switch, so I don't have to struggle finding the proper holding position. Barnes & Noble gets a lot of business from me now. It's really terrible for my budget!

Patgolfneb | 5 comments I have a Nook Tablet I use a lot. I occasionally use my Xoom also although it teally is to heavy. Impulse purchases of a replacement book if my current one doesn't grab me is a mixed blessing.

message 11: by Karen (new)

Karen (seaayre) | 29 comments I have a Kindle Touch. I hoped to use it more, but find I still prefer physical books.

message 12: by Toni (new)

Toni Whittaker I said for ages and ages im never getting a ebook reader then through convienience i downloaded a couple of books onto my ipad from that moment i was hooked to ereading as i read books that quick and they never get touched again and just clutter up my house! My partner heard me say that it was a shame the ipad was so heavy and big so he went and treated me to a kindle which now goes in my handbag everywhere i go lol !

Lisa (lburgessart) | 32 comments I have kindle on my PC and my Iphone--haven't bought a tablet yet

Manuela - Fathoms Amidst The Lines (manuelasoares) | 5 comments Though I prefer physical books, I do own a nook. I got it for Christmas a couple years back. I also have the free kindle app on my iPos and cell phone, along with the B&N nook app.

I've noticed though that I read books faster using the kindle and nook apps. It also a lot easier to share books with my friend using them.

Gina (renagee) | 4 comments I have a nook color and I absolutely love it.

message 16: by James (new)

James West (jawest) | 10 comments My wife is awesome! She bought me a Kindle Fire for my birthday and I love it :)

message 17: by Dale (new)

Dale Ibitz (goodreadscomdale_ibitz) I have a Nook, which I got for Christmas from my hubby. I have the kindle app on my netbook, though I read from my Nook more often.

message 18: by Kimmel (new)

Kimmel Ciel | 11 comments I just bought a Kindle Touch yesterday!!!

Before I used to read on my iPad and iPhone, but not that much because I love reading paperbacks. Now that I have an ereader I can see myself reading ebooks first and if I specifically like some book I'll go and purchase a physical copy just for the sake of keeping it with me :)

message 19: by Dale (new)

Dale Ibitz (goodreadscomdale_ibitz) I always go to the ereader before the paperback now-a-days. Never thought I would be there!

message 20: by Anik (new)

Anik | 7 comments I am thinking of getting the new kindle. anyone using it now? does the 70 dollar one have back light?

message 21: by Ryan (last edited Sep 18, 2012 06:04AM) (new)

Ryan Bennett (rbennett7) No, the cheapest Kindle does not have a backlight. The cheapest kindle that offers the backlight is the Kindle Paperwhite, and that will set you back 119 buckaroos.

The 119 includes "special offers" which is another words for Ads. Most of the ads are lame, but every once in awhile there is an ad for a 20$ Amazon gift card for 10$. If you don't want the ads it'll cost 139, the ads aren't a big distractions in my oppinion.

message 22: by Anik (new)

Anik | 7 comments Thanks Ryan. May be I would just get Alurtek pro as someone mentioned here.

message 23: by Audra (new)

Audra Middleton | 11 comments I love my Kindle Fire because it's an ereader, plus can do apps & web searches, it has decent speakers for music, I can easily edit documents, etc. It doesn't read well outside, though.

message 24: by Anik (new)

Anik | 7 comments I agree on the kindle fire multi functionality, since I had one. But now I am looking for one that only have one purpose, reading. For me, having tablets decreased my book rating rate.

message 25: by Dale (new)

Dale Ibitz (goodreadscomdale_ibitz) I kinda wish I had more of a tablet, but can't see replacing my Nook right now (it's older so it really is only good for reading and shopping at B&N). Maybe someday if it ever dies.

message 26: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Dallas | 1 comments love my nook

message 27: by Richard (new)

Richard Sutton (richardsutton) I've tried 'em all, and I'm really stuck on my Nook Tablet. All touch, backlit and email, too. I bought a reconditioned/refurbished one on Ebay and got a great price.

message 28: by Kerrin (new)

Kerrin | 41 comments I just had a cheapie one until it kicked the bucket on me.
Now I have a Sony because at the time it was as if everyone in the area was out buying ereaders & pretty much everywhere was sold out.
The only thing that bugs me is that you can't have more than 100 collection categories which is a pain.

message 29: by Natalie (new)

Natalie I have a Kindle Fire. I love it too much.

message 30: by Audra (new)

Audra Middleton | 11 comments Now that the new Kindles are out, are the old ones down in price? I'm tired of fighting my kids for mine!

message 31: by Angel (new)

Angel Deruelle (angellynn71) I use a nook I don't know what I did without it. I just love it so

Elly (Schrody) | 3 comments Kindle :))

message 37: by ~Brandy~ (new)

~Brandy~ | 2 comments I got my kindle right after I graduated from college in 2008. So I have the "first generation." Nobody knew what it was when I got it, not even me! I still prefer physical books but I love my kindle. I live about 25 miles from my library so it makes things a lot easier. And if I read a book with an embarrasing cover, nobody can see what I am readng. :)

message 39: by Dale (new)

Dale Ibitz (goodreadscomdale_ibitz) Yeah, I have an older version of Nook...I got it before even the Nook color came out. In some ways I wish I had the newer version, but not enough to spring for a 2nd one!

Lily (Night Owl Book Cafe) (nightowlbookcafe) | 5 comments I have a nook, none color the LCD hurts my eyes. I really want the new one though :(
