Tosh This is a discussion between yours truly (Tosh Berman) and artist Andrew Lampert on my memoir TOSH: Growing Up in Wallace Berman's World" (City Lights). The talk took place at ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 in Queens New York on February 23, 2019. https://youtu.be/TO-BfE_pX7M

Yeah I got this too - since the publications were all by me it wasn't too difficult to sort out. Pamphlets and translations. And it was seven or so publications I think. 75 titles is a lot! But you don't need to do them all. Check what Goodreads tell you about this:

"Early next week, we will be importing a database of 14 million ISBNs from a new source, so many of the books that seem to need rescue today may not actually be in jeopardy. We won't know until we import this new data source. So please don't spend a lot of time rescuing books—we don't want you to do unnecessary work. What we really need is for everyone to try rescuing a few books to see if the tools are working as we hoped. That way, once next week rolls around, we'll be ready to get down to the business or rescuing the books that actually are in jeopardy..." From: "http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7..."

After recusing my books as Goodreads indicated, I also added a number of my titles to Goodreads - but still many of the translations are missing... Dealing with the Russian books etc is difficult for me because they use an alphabet I'm not familiar with. But those are not books that need rescuing, they just need putting up!

Tosh This morning I received an e-mail from Goodreads saying that they can't use Amazon as a source for book information anymore. I have about 75 titles that I need to find source or upload or do something -although Goodreads says for sure my reviews for those books won't be lost. Anyone else got this e-mail from Goodreads?

It was a total pleasure, sir!

D. Pow Mr Berman! It was so nice to meet you and get the guided tour of Tosh's world. You are a cool dude, witty, erudite and urbane. In his cloudy, harpy after life even Jesus envys you your utterly perfect existence. I hope we can go for drinks sometime when Mr. Gottlieb is around. Stay your bad self.

D.

Roger Cottrell Hi Tosh,
Anyone who's into Guy DeBord and ALSO runs a press is welcome to my freindship anyday. Thanks very much for getting in touch and you must tell me more about your publishing company.
Change the situation and smash the consumerist Spectacle.

brian nice work toshi! you've achieved the much desired 'bond villain' look!

message 13: by W.B.

W.B. Tosh, were you making a joke when you added the quote "it doesn't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing?" (sic) The real quote, of course, is "it don't mean a thing (if it ain't got that swing)."

Not sure if you were making fun of solecistic usage or something...the version you have there doesn't scan to the music either, of course...

Jessica Tosh! There was a segment on NPR on online book sites with gooreads featured (Otis interviewed), and "an interview with a dandy about dandy culture" was to follow... Surely that would be Tosh Berman! Wow, I thought, one of my very favorite reviewers on goodreads has reached the big time! NPR! But then came Sebastien Horsley's voice....a terribly charming voice & accent it was too...I can't believe he was turned away from these fair lands for moral turpitude...! What the ---? His book is high on my list now.
cheers,
J.
p.s. I still think Otis should nab you for an NPR feature.

Makiko As I was adding my favorite books on my book list, I noticed almost all of them had your reviews! Maybe I'm your daughter you never knew you had...You are the master of decadence. I am excited to explore more world of dandyism and decadence by your recommendations. Thank you for adding me.

( I will definitely read Serge biography by Gilles Verlant in English when it's out. )

Jessica Ah so there is a date-number connection that you have with Robbe-Grillet as well. Oddly fascinating...

Jessica Okay Tosh: I checked out the Tam Tam Books site. very cool. My hero is there: Alain Robbe-Grillet, as is my favorite movie of all time: Last Year at Marienbad. I can't remember how many times I've seen that film. So I was born on Robbe-Grillet's birthday: 8/18. And do you know he died on his half-birthday: 2/18? (fascinating, right?) Okay, so I have his memoir, "Ghosts in the Mirror," haven't read it yet, have you?

Jessica Dandy culture...do tell!
would that be Oscar Wilde? What would the book list look like for such a course?
thanks
:)
J.

Michael Don't forget to make that list of Japanese fiction recommendations!

message 2: by Gwendolyn (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:09PM)

Gwendolyn Tosh my love, being the newbie i have no idea if this is a private response or a public one...myspace deprogramming...so all i will say is that im out of town and right now am sneaking away to answer you...jack is about as good as it gets photo wise and i will add books when i get home. by the way...i will hold your copy of W&P while you take a bath...or you could just pay brian an absurd amount to do it seeing as he is a capitalist whore, but then again he does like you so you can probably get him at a discount.
