Timothy Pilgrim Hi Elizabeth,
thanks for adding 'The Day the Ravens Died' to your list. I hope you enjoy it. It is silly o'clock here, I've been writing/typing away at the follow up to 'Ravens' it has the working title of 'The Unguarded Land'. Nite- Nite and thanks again.
All the best Paul Rix [a very tired oldgeezer]

Hi Paul

Sounds like you've led an interesting and varied life. I'll certainly check out 'The Day the Ravens Died.'

As for myself, I've been in the IT industry far longer than I would like to remember. I started writing about 3 years ago but found that it's something I love doing, and for some reason, people seemed to enoy reading my stories. I've written the equivalent of about 20 full-sized novels but all fanfic based. The Empire was my first foray into original fiction and I was fortunate enough to be noticed by someone who passed on one of my short stories to his publisher. The result was a publishing contract and The Empire being released this past December. Since then I've been navigating the pot-holed maze we all know so well...book publicity and marketting.

I wish us both luck with our endeavors.

Cheers,
Elizabeth

Timothy Pilgrim Hi,
Or should I say good morning Elizabeth, What a nice surprise when I kicked the humming box into life to find your friend request waiting, thank you.
About 'Isaac Brock', I have, as I said, no idea why I enjoyed it so much. It's part historical, part travel, memoir, auto biog, none of which I particularly like, it just works. it caught my eye on my 'publishers' list, I suppose it was because I'd actually heard of Isaac Brock. Many years ago, I got stranded with my mates on a military flight in Buffalo by the weather, we were on our way to Medicine Hat from Fort Bragg. We had been visiting instructors for the Yanks, suddenly the weather turned nasty and our Hercules was told to land at Buffalo, it did, mostly side ways on as I recall!!
We were stuck for nearly a week! There was this statue on the other bank of the St Laurence, it looked like Nelsons column, being a nosey sod, and coming from Nelsons county [Norfolk] I had to find out! That's how I got to know about your national hero, so when I saw the book I had to have a gander at it.
As for my books. My first published book was 'Ro' a true story, I've withdrawn it for now until I get chance to re-write it. It's a true story, I was told to with draw it by our M.O.D. my edited reply was 'NO'
Currently there is 'The Day the Ravens Died' a thriller based on a 'fictional' unit tasked with taking on terrorists. Without meaning to sound big headed, I dare put this one beside ANYONES book of a similar vein. It got to the final of the 'Brit Writers awards' last year in the general fiction class. Dan Smith [dry season] another G.R. author made the final as well, he's 'mainstream' and lost out to Terry Pratchett!!!
My most recent effort is 'Beyond the Potting Shed' written at my 'publishers' behest, horticulture being my proper 'trade'. It is aimed at anyone growing their own fruit and veg. and is all about saving money and effort. Work smart, not hard, is what the 'old boys' taught me. The principles in it are pretty well universal, if you live somewhere crops will grow then a lot of it applies.
That's about it really, I live with my lovely missus, married 35 years, 2nd time for both of us, and our three cats!! Both of our sons have flown, one lives in Denmark with his Viking lass, the other is married to a beautiful Polish girl and they have a sensational 3year old [Vickey] who has grand dad wrapped around her little finger, [several times]. A little blue eyed Blondie, she's already got 'the look' I'm sure you know what I mean.
Any way, gotta go. I've a couple of things to do which MUST be ready tomorrow, I'll catch you later.
All the best Paul Rix [oldgeezer]
