Archaea, amoebas, and the first glimpses into a mind.

Honestly, I’m not particularly enjoying this one. I was hoping for more time travel, but I’m getting more grumpy old men plucked from history dealing with British bureaucracy.

“Hell is the Absence of God” was fine. It’s a story about faith and devotion. I find it interesting how Chiang creates worlds in which aspects of religion are truths and known.

“Story of Your Life” was excellent. Arrival gave me so many chills in the theater when watching it so it was great to read the source material. “Seventy-Two Letters” was fine. I didn’t follow the different characters too well and though it brought up a lot of different interesting concepts they felt disjointed.

Division by Zero was a fun concept. The kind of story that works best as a short story. Again, I was hoping for a little more from the ending.

Two stories down! Babylon was a great start, setting the tone. I enjoyed the ending. Understand was a joy to read, but I was hoping for more from the ending.
