Third time around on this one - required reading for #memoir writers!

This book was recommended to me as I continue to devour #memoir while writing my own. I can see why / how it mirrors
Some of the experiences I’m writing about from childhood, just wish the author were a bit more self-reflective.

I finally chuckled: “the first-graders’ unsettling self-portraits”

The reading is lovely and there's magic in connecting with a creature so foreign to us.

Nuggets I’m gleaning are mostly related to what’s on the other side of letting things go (I was already convinced it was a really good idea and what might be possible)

Feel like it just “turned a page” as it were - I loved the part where he reads to the kids, I could see the whole goofy scene playing out. Might’ve taken awhile to lead up to it but setting the scene at the library with its eclectic
Cast of characters makes it more interesting.
