Wow, that's a great question.
My maternal grandfather came home one evening to tell my pregnant grandmother he had one more thing to take care of, then he'd be right back. This was in October of 1928 in Al Capone's Chicago. He left and never came home. In March, his body was found washed up from Lake Michigan and my grandmother identified him by his teeth and the buttons she'd sewn on his jacket. I've often thought that would make a compelling mystery story. We have a few ideas, but nothing concrete for details.
Again, thanks for asking.

Stories of people who preserve touch me. I recently read an article about a woman who worked to learn about who had built her house only to uncover a love story and healing for herself. It is her story, but I my brain started spinning tales. Another article spoke of a small town in Texas that came together for corporate and intercessory prayer through WWII and everyone of the town's sons that left for war came home after. I think there's a story there. History is made up of two words slid together--His and story. We are His story and there is so much to share in our wealth of experiences and blessings from God's hands.

Actually I am taking December off from writing and editing. A chance to reflect and prepare for the coming year. I have the box set of The Relentless Series ready to launch come January. I have the final edits to finish for The Traveling Prayer Shawl releasing mid March. Then I start editing The Weather Girls--a trilogy romcom set in 1970. Sunny, Stormy, and Windy. Once those are complete, I hope to write three books in a spin-off series of the Weather Girls--The Weather Girls Wedding Shoppe and Venue. I also have an idea for a split time trilogy set around the Verde Valley Railroad. I'm excited about that. Finally on tap for next year is my first non-fiction work. A devotional titled When God Holds Your Hand. Sounds like a lot, but what are goals and stars for anyway if not for reaching, right?

Keep writing. Keep reading. Keep doing. It's a marathon you run for the joy of doing it. If money and accolades come, that's nice. But do it for the joy of just doing it.

The joy of getting the story out of my brain and onto the page.
Or having someone tell me how that spillage on the page moved them, brought them joy, or a closer walk with our Savior.
I guess the first one is relief and the second pure joy.

I write something, Anything. A blank page cannot be edited. But any words on a page can. Even if it means deleting and starting again. Eventually there will be one word worth keeping and adding to. So, when facing writer's block, I stop looking for quality and start looking for anything that can be edited.

Narnia. In a heartbeat. Especially during the Golden Age. How thrilling to walk beside Aslan and run my fingers through his mane.

I'm currently reading Martha Rogers' Legacy of Deception. She'd pulled me in for sure. An I'm anxiously awaiting To Love a Prince by Rachel Hauck. Read some great books this summer but there's still so many to read!

I've worked on the best novel of my career and am about to write the last scene. My power goes out and I lose internet wiping out everything and I hadn't remembered to save!

My most recent book, Tales of the Hob Nob Annex Cafe, started as a suggestion from my cousin, Linda. She thought my parents' restaurant from the 1950s-60s would make a great setting for a story. The more I thought about it, the more excited I got and had to write it. Tales of the Hob Nob Annex Cafe releases May 12, 2020 on Amazon.
