(view spoiler)[I just finished reading the Flood Girls. The book really grew on me as I read it and Jake was my favorite character. (I loved all the characters) I can't believe you killed him off and the book ended with no justice or vindication for him! It seems like the first in the series. Are you going to continue the story and make Burt pay for what he did? (hide spoiler)]

I'm very sorry you didn't like the ending! I understand completely. If I write more in the series, I will make sure B. gets his comeuppance! Thank you so much for reading!

(view spoiler)[Hi Richard!
I learned about Flood Girls at the Simon & Schuster book buzz at the ALA Midwinter Meeting a few weeks ago -- so glad they shared!!
I have to know when in the writing process you knew how Jake's story would end? And why that way? It was so heartbreaking, but that funeral scene was the best I've ever imagined. We should all be sent out that way!
And, working on anything new? Thanks! (hide spoiler)]

SPOILER ALERT! Great question, however! The funeral was the very first scene I imagined, and I wrote the entire novel trying to figure out why these rural women were in mourning in such high fashion! I had no idea how I was going to get there, but it was a magical journey! I'm always working on new things--currently a book about supermodels and drag queens in 1990s NYC, and dabbling in more Flood Girls! Thanks for the question!

I would absolutely adore continuing the stories of the people of Quinn! There is so much more to tell, and tiny universes that deserve exploration. It really depends on the success of the book. I am just as desperate as anyone to find out what happens with the softball team! Thanks for an awesome question.

Glad to hear you will consider another Quinn novel. I am sure the book will do well, it's such a great story. Congrats and good luck!!

I was there this summer, and it is most definitely still standing! I've become friends with the owner, and it is a must visit for any trips to the Yaak. John, the owner, is a real firecracker, and one of the kindest gentlemen in the world. He LOVES motorcycle tourists. That bar is one of a kind! XOXO, Richard.

Oh, gosh! I have so many! My favorite reading experience: The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver. The book that most influenced my life as an artist: The World According To Garp, by John Irving. My sentimental favorites: Geek Love, by Katherine Dunn, and Dinner At The Homesick Restaurant, by Anne Tyler. Such a great question! Thank you! What is your favorite?
