Middle Earth. My ultimate favourite book was The Lord of the Rings.

No I didn't. I majored in History. I did take a few English courses though. There is probably almost as much writing in history as in English, especially in the third and fourth year. I pulled a lot of all nighters if I remember correctly. You are dissecting a topic whether it be a classic book or the battle of Waterloo.

Usually I will watch a really cool movie or funny enough listen to a really catchy song. Somehow, this makes me want to create. I play guitar and every now and again, I get the urge to write a song. I think they go hand in hand. I bought the James Patterson Master series a while back and I like to listen to that. He is inspiring. I force myself to read- The Fire in Fiction by Donald Maass. I use that book as my writing bible.
Phase two - I like to get cozy beside my fireplace at home in Ontario, or on my porch in Florida where I can see the Gulf of Mexico. Early in the morning or late at night.

You can't listen to people who say how impossible getting published is. If you are good enough and persistent, you can do it. Tension and conflict are key.

I'm working on three separate pieces. One is about a military doctor who goes under cover to break the link between the US medical system and illegal organ trafficking.
The second is a sequel to Devil on the grass, called the Senator. Jackson Walker finds himself in another paranormal mess as he attempts to be elected to the Florida Senate.
The third is about some friends of ours who survived for three days in a storm out in the Gulf of Mexico after their boat sank. They where the longest known survivors to do so. It is a faith based novel on how the father and two sons found the will to survive and about their families who didn't give up their faith that they were still alive.

I took a drive through the Florida Everglades and was taken by the vastness of it. As my mind will do, I wondered if anyone ever disposed of their murder victims there. I mean - it would be real easy. So, I dreamt up a family of cleaners, the McFaddens - three brothers who fix up other people's messes. From this premis, my book took shape.

You can write anywhere. I could be on a beach, Italy or the South Pole. It doesn't matter. I like how people seem genuinely interested in your work. I sell Real Estate as well and people don't seem to care as much about it.

I force myself to write, no matter how bad it seems. Once I get going, the ideas tend to flow. I have learned to write a better outline, it tends to take some of the thinking out of the process, and stops you from getting stuck. I also don't allow myself to surf the net etc. when I sit down to write. Get down to it, cut out the distractions!
