Thank you so much for this question!
John did not talk to me (typical!) when I sat down to write his story, so I shelved it. His book is a part of my 2023 writing plan, so I'm hopeful he will whisper in my ear when I start working on it later this year.
Marcus will be part of a spin-off series slated for 2024.

Yes! Jacob's story, Reignited, is in the final editing stage and will be available soon! Join my newsletter to get sneak peeks and be the first to know when I have an exact launch date! (TessSummersAuthor.com) John's story should be coming sometime in early 2020.

(Self-serving to say Travis and Ava from Operation Sex Kitten, but I really do love their chemistry!)
This is a really tough question. I've been reading romance novels since 4th grade, and I think most authors have the formula down about what makes a good heroine and hero. Obviously, some are better than others.
However, Wang Lung and O-Lan from Pearl S. Buck's The Good Earth stand out to me. Not because of the romance, or even the love as a couple, but because they were so real. The partnership they formed that helped them endure the bad (sometimes horrific) times and create wealth for their family was, to me, a testament to their bond. Of course, once they were rich, Wang Lung turned into a dick, but again, the depiction of their relationship was genuine. I truly hated Wang Lung when he took O-Lan's pearls and sobbed when reading about a tear streaming down her face as she handed them to him. I felt her pain and betrayal. Although I never completely forgave him, Wang Lung's (eventual) remorse for having done that to her and the care he gave her in her final days was touching, and redeemed him (somewhat) in my eyes.

Creating characters and telling their stories. Although the life of a writer can be pretty solitary, I feel like I'm always surrounded by friends.

I still consider myself an aspiring writer, so it would feel disingenuous to offer advice when I still have so much to learn myself.

The General's Desire, is Ron Thompson's story. The reader was introduced to Ron in Operation Sex Kitten (OSK). I fell in love with him in OSK, and, to tell the truth, wavered about who Ava should end up with - Ron or Travis. Since Travis and Ava were meant to be, I needed Ron to have his own love story. The General's Desire is his.
