Goodreads asked Tess Summers:

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Tess Summers (Self-serving to say Travis and Ava from Operation Sex Kitten, but I really do love their chemistry!)
This is a really tough question. I've been reading romance novels since 4th grade, and I think most authors have the formula down about what makes a good heroine and hero. Obviously, some are better than others.
However, Wang Lung and O-Lan from Pearl S. Buck's The Good Earth stand out to me. Not because of the romance, or even the love as a couple, but because they were so real. The partnership they formed that helped them endure the bad (sometimes horrific) times and create wealth for their family was, to me, a testament to their bond. Of course, once they were rich, Wang Lung turned into a dick, but again, the depiction of their relationship was genuine. I truly hated Wang Lung when he took O-Lan's pearls and sobbed when reading about a tear streaming down her face as she handed them to him. I felt her pain and betrayal. Although I never completely forgave him, Wang Lung's (eventual) remorse for having done that to her and the care he gave her in her final days was touching, and redeemed him (somewhat) in my eyes.
