Marilyn Levinson Hi Patricia,
Clover Ridge is a town that I made up. My model is Guilford, which I once visited. I loved the idea of centuries-old buildings around a green. The rest is my creation.
I'm glad to know that you're reading Death Overdue and plan to read the other books in the series.
Marilyn Levinson Roberta,
Thank you for telling me that my library setting is very authentic. I have always spent a good deal of time in libraries, either doing research or taking part in my library's activities. I'm friendly with many librarians, and ask questions when I need information.
Sammy is my second orange tabby. IMHO they're special.
Marilyn Levinson Your question isn't strange at all, Nora-adrienne. Two authors named Levinson asked me if we might be related. Alas, I'm not related to either of them; nor am I related to Sam Levenson, whom I remember very well. Levinson is my married name.
Marilyn Levinson I am so behind on my To Read list because I keep on adding books. Before I start anything else, I must finish the following that I'm currently reading: Margaret George's marvelous novel The Confessions of Young Nero, the unique debut by Benjamin Ludwig The Original Ginny Moon, Nancy J. Cohen's delightful cozy Facials Can Be Fatal, and the humorous Lucky Man, A Tubby Dubonnet Mystery by Tony Dunbar.
This summer I plan to read: The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, Plantation Shudders by Ellen Byron, Dark September by Nikki French, and a quartet by a well-known Italian woman author whose name escapes me, and as many mysteries on my Kindle that I can.
Marilyn Levinson I really can't think of a mystery in my own life that would be a plot for one of my books.
Marilyn Levinson I reread what I've already written. For me, I only experience writer's block if I've digressed from the main story line.
Marilyn Levinson Write a lot. Read a lot. Join writer groups. Join a supportive and helpful critique group.
Marilyn Levinson A mystery. My sleuth has recently gotten the position of head of Programs and Events. My sleuth is involved with a ghost, a nemesis, and a cold case of murder.
Marilyn Levinson I don't. I sit down at my computer, go through my email, then get to work on my Work In Progress. I work from an outline, so I've a good idea of what comes next.
Marilyn Levinson I was at an outdoor performance of drumming at my library. That's when I got the idea for the sleuth in my Work in Progress. A librarian, not the drummer. The plot for that mystery came later on.
Marilyn Levinson communicating with my readers and fellow writers.
