Amy Makechnie A couple I knew suffered the same fate as Jed and Vienna St. Clair. I decided to write the story from the point of view of what it might have been like to be their child.
Amy Makechnie Ideas are everywhere. I am constantly taking notes on everyday life. I'm a great eavesdropper - people say the most interesting things :). But I don't wait for inspiration before I start writing. Inspiration often comes AFTER I begin.
Amy Makechnie Another middle grade novel, this time from the perspective of a 13-year-old boy. It's hard!
Amy Makechnie You are the only one who can write your book. NO ONE is going to do it for you. JUST WRITE. And do it every day.
Amy Makechnie It's thrilling to tell stories that readers love - absolutely thrilling. It takes me years to write a book, but when it all comes together? Incredibly satisfying!

It's not magic, but it sometimes it feels a little bit magical when you are holding the finished product of hard work, creativity, frustration, joy, and inspiration in your hands.
Amy Makechnie I tell myself that there's no such thing. Writing is my job and I need to get it done. (This doesn't always work, but it's the effort that counts, right?!)
Amy Makechnie Hi Lonna! Thank you for not only reading Guinevere, but for leaving such a wonderful review - I appreciate it. These characters have inhabited my heart as well, and it makes me so happy when readers connect with them.

Gaysie was very much inspired by my mother-in-law who was a larger-than-life personality. She always championed the underdog, loved children, and was often seen as an odd, eccentric character - with a heart of gold. One morning she was burying her pet dog, which was wrapped in a black plastic bag. There was quite a dramatic funeral of sorts and I kept thinking, "this is my first scene" :). I definitely went off script as Gaysie became her own person, but the inspiration was there from the start. Sadly, my mother-in-law passed away suddenly before she ever read Guinevere. I so hoped she would be the one to read the audiobook. But I like to think she would have gotten such a kick out of reading about Gaysie Cutter and Guinevere St. Clair.

Thank you for the question!
