Bethany -- apologies for being so late in responding. Your question got lost in email!! I'm so glad someone gifted you BBE Each novel is written to stand alone, but if you have the opportunity to start at the beginning of the series with Ten Beach Road, I think you will enjoy getting to know the characters there first. There is a Ten Beach Road section on my website with the order, excerpts, descriptions, etc. authorwendywax.com.

Jackie -- So glad you're enjoying the Ten Beach Road novels! Yes, One Good Thing will be out April 25. A Christmas novella set at Bella Flora will be out in October, and I'm working on the book that will follow in the spring of 2018 right now! It's such a treat to get to continue with Maddie, Avery, Nikki, Kyra and crew. If you haven't already, I hope you'll join me on social media or via my email list so I can keep you posted!

There are all sorts of mental games I employ to put myself in the head of the character I'm writing from. As any writer will tell you sometimes the hardest thing is simply sitting down and facing the blank page. A deadline helps -- whether from a publisher or self imposed!

Hi Kelly Anne,
I'm so glad you enjoyed (I hope!) A Week at the Lake! I fell in love with Lake George and Bolton Landing while I was researching A Week at the Lake. It was the first time I'd been in the area and was blown away by its beauty! We stayed at The Inn at Erlowest on the old Millionaire's Row -- can't wait to go back!

Hi Debbie!
Yes! I'm actually working on another Ten Beach Road novel right now and I'm having a blast being back on Pass-a-Grille with Maddie, Avery, Nikki, Kyra and crew! It will be out next spring.
I'm also very excited that my June 23 release A Week at the Lake will include bonus material -- they've included Christmas at the Beach, my Ten Beach Road novella, in the back. This is the first time it will appear in print!
Thanks so much for your interest in me and my books!

Claire Walker, a writer character in my novel WHILE WE WERE WATCHING DOWNTON ABBEY, suffers from writer's block just when she finally has the opportunity to write full time. But in truth, I don't believe in writer's block. Or maybe I should say I am unwilling to give in to writer's block.
I've learned that the best solution is to sit down in front of the computer and write. Sometimes I simply put the characters on the page and free write dialogue between them -- no censoring or editing-- I just let them speak to each other. In that moment it doesn't matter exactly what I write, only that I put words on the page. When I look at it the next day there's always something there that I can work with. It might only be a paragraph or two. Or an idea or thought. The point is to write. Period.
You can fix anything except a blank page!
