Annette Spratte The best thing about being a writer is that you have a chance to impact lives. When people contact me and tell me that they have been changed by what they read, I'm happy beyond belief.
Annette Spratte Excellent question. Yes and no. What Josie has gone through is in no way autobiographical. The trauma she suffered (if you want to learn more about that, you'll have to read the next book) is purely fictional. But her emotional state as described in Survivor is something familiar to me, without the nightmares. My home was not a happy one, my relationship to my father very distant while my mother was emotionally abusive.
Parts of me and my experience are scattered all over my characters. So I cannot say Josie represents me or - in the follow-up - Jim or Stacey or Lisa represents me. They all do and yet they are all their own personalities, acting in ways I never would.
Glad it touched you!
Annette Spratte I am currently working on a historical romance with a touch of mystery. I really didn't want to write that, but it wouldn't leave me alone!
Annette Spratte I have never encountered it. Whenever I was unsure how exactly the story should proceed, I waited a few days in which I carried it with me in my head. After a while, the next sequence would present itself and I could go on. I forced myself to write chronologically because I was afraid that I would never get the pieces together if I just wrote the scenes without order. This helped me to get over some of the harder spots because the next interesting scene was already waiting.
Annette Spratte The idea for "The Way Of Life" came out of the blue. The story popped into my head and I thought it so fascinating that I wanted to read it! So I had to write it down, which was an adventure because I didn't really have time for it. It's still beyond me how I managed to get it finished within two and a half years.
