M.L. Nystrom Wow! Sorry for answering so late! I just got this notice. I've just finished Brick and Betsey's story in a novella and was planning on that one being the end of the series. I did sketch out a possibility for Dodge, but he needs to "talk" to me a bit more. We'll see who's up next.
M.L. Nystrom I don't have any exact dates yet but Brick and Betsey's story is completed in a novella. That may be the end of the series, however I did sketch out a possibility with Dodge. We'll see what he has to say.
M.L. Nystrom I don't think I've had any writer's block but I have experienced some crossroads where I get bogged down in details. When this happens, I switch gears or switch scenes, just to keep my brain working and my mind fresh. Bouncing ideas off of other authors help as well.
M.L. Nystrom My advice? I'm still new to this world but what I've learned is to finish what you start. If you get stuck, reach out to other authors or people who take your work seriously, who can read and advise you. Get a good editor and don't be afraid to take the advice you're given.
M.L. Nystrom I'm working on books four and five of the Dragon Runners MC series. What's beyond that? About a dozen or so sketched out ideas for other books in several genres. Some are already partially written and some are just outlines. After the Dragon Runners MC are finished, I'll take a few days, dust off one of the manuscripts and see where it goes.
M.L. Nystrom I get inspiration everywhere and at anytime. When I was a kid, I got in trouble at school for daydreaming and making up stories in my head. I've watched a chance meeting in a coffee shop. I've had people who are such great characters, they need to be in a book. The inside of a special house, a scene, a phrase, or sometimes just random thoughts that spark and grow. It doesn't take much to get me started.
M.L. Nystrom I don't like what I call cookie cutter characters. I've read some other book series that felt like I was reading the same person over and over again, in looks, in personality, and in speech. I try hard not to fall into that chasm, although I'm sure there are similarities in writing styles. I got my idea for the most recent publication in the Dragon Runners MC series simply looking for opposites. The previous book had a feisty red headed Amazonian woman and a blonde Viking playboy who was supposed to be more fun than serious. The third book needed radically different characters, so we had the serious deputy struggling with the weight of the world on his shoulders and the nurturing, giving, crafty, girly-girl. Next up in book four is another set of main characters that are different than the previous book. Check it out when it becomes available.
